Part of me doesn't want to leave a review for this site because it is utterly gorgeous and I don't want it always fully booked, but the owners deserve to have a recent review left so here goes.
This is a 'proper' CL - only five units and nothing else, not even tents. No kids play area, no showers, no dishwashing. There is EHU, waste water disposal and the best recycling I have seen outside the Eden project - a bin for absolutely every type of waste!
The owners are really kind and I am sure would do anything for you, if you needed help. On arrival Katrina opened the gate for me, walked down to the CL area and told me I could pitch where I wanted (all hardstanding).
The site is incredibly quiet with amazing views south. Only a few minutes drive to Keswick and access is easy from the A591 whether you come from north or south.
Fresh eggs are available to buy and you share the camping field with the chickens. One particularly brave little brown hen spent most of the weekend sitting under our 'van, completely undeterred by the dog.
Probably the only thing which prevents this being the greatest pitch on earth is the fact that most of the stiles on adjacent footpaths do not have dog gates and lifting my 20kg four-paws over them was difficult (she won't jump. ) That is not Gary and Katrina's fault, it's not their land.
A real gem of a site and definitely one to return to for a few days total peace and quiet.

This is a small, members only site and is well worth a visit. It is on the A591 north of Keswick and very close to the Castle Inn, a good hotel, pub and restaurant.
Regular buses run from the site to Keswick. It's an ideal base for walking, particularly round Bassenthwaite Lake, Skiddaw and the lesser known Uldale Fells.
It's about a mile from the village of Bassenthwaite where the Sun Inn serves good food, but you must book in advance most evenings.
The site itself only has the basics - water, waste disposal and electric hook-ups so you need your own facilities when staying here. Good value for money - only £13 per unit per night.
Great site; highly recommended.
