 The site is on the Etruscan coast, about 10 miles from the nearest big town of Grosseto. If you visit Grosseto visit the local market.
The campsite has direct access to a private beautiful sandy beach with beach bar and deck chair/umbrella hire.
The site has a large supermarket, separate green grocers and butchers. Gift shop, tourist information area and caravan shop for equipment etc. It also has a bar, restaurant, ice cream/crepe parlour, take away and outdoor area for evening entertainment. Also available table football, table pool, basketball court, small go-karts track for little children. Because of the close proximity of the beach there is no swimming pool.
Site has around 1200 touring pitches plus caravans available for hire – a bike is necessary. The site is in virtual shade almost all of the time due to the incredibly high pine trees that you camp under.
Most Italians tied their water containers to the pine trees to warm up during the day – they had never seen an aquarol barrel and were amazed with it! Cars are not allowed and are kept at the entrance in a car park.
A very Italian site – we were the only English there for the 7 nights we stayed (or indeed any other nationality) – so an ideal site to immerse yourself with all things Italian – or if not, visit the beach between 1pm to 4pm and it was completely empty as virtually the whole site had a siesta – therefore obviously no loud music allowed etc, during this time. The site came alive in the evening when everyone woke up and the weather had cooled.
Toilet blocks were clean, the majority were Turkish style toilets, but showers were fine. Unfortunately dishwashing and clothes washing facilities were plentiful but all with cold water.
3amp electricity which meant it blew if you plugged too much in.
A beautiful campsite which we fondly think of our “week living with the Italians” - would thoroughly recommend if you wish to relax and get away from all the tourist hustle and bustle.
