Booked at last minute, as our French
Trip was cancelled.
Very quiet location, 25 minutes walk into
Camelford. The town looks a bit tired, but there is a lovely
Park next to the river.
During our stay I would compare it to Damage Barton
For the wind, it was blowing a hooley all the time we were there.
It wasn’t as windy off site.
If you’re not lucky enough to get a hard standing, it’s a pain.
As has been said, site is very sloping.
Good location, if you like to drive to various places, but not for us.
Don’t think we will return.

We have stayed on a lot of North Cornwall sites over the years and this is the most peaceful site we have ever stayed at particularly as we were there during the first 2 weeks of August. Entering the site through Camelford does mean you are towing up a steep hill but we experience no issues with this.
We were pitched right next to the tennis court, we were initially worried about the possibility of noise however there were no issues with the tennis court other than one over enthusiastic player who did manage to hit our van from although there was no damage. Not all pitches are level so leveling ramps will be needed. TV signal was fine and we got a good phone signal on 3. There was no on site internet so a dongle was needed.
The site was beautifully quiet at all times although I expect it would be slightly noisier in the first 2 fields which do back onto the road. The site shop was nicely stocked with the basics and the wardens pleasant and helpful.
The showers are nice, plenty of hot water and were always beautifully clean, the addition of stools to sit on in the shower was most welcome. The dog walk is small and not suitable for exercise but is perfectly fine for morning and evening toileting. There were nice footpaths across the road. It is a distance to the dog walk from the lower pitches so accidents on the way might happen. Its a pity the area past the tennis court couldn't have a dog walk area to avoid your dog toileting on the way to the dog walk.
The site is nicely positioned for visiting Port Issac, the Bedruthan steps, Tintagel, Bude etc and being in land the weather was warmer than by the coast. We also found the site was well positioned for a visit to Fowey and Charlestown on the opposite coast. The Shipwreck museum in Charlestown was fantastic and dog friendly. Bodmin jail is also dog friendly and well worth a visit.
Fish and chips in Camelford were very nice with a good portion size however for incredible fish and chips visit the award winning fish shop in Mawgan Porth, well worth the 30 minutes drive. The nearest large supermarket is Tesco at Wadebridge about 25 minutes drive away but there is a nice co-op in Camelford and a Londis at the garage.
Bude was beautiful with a nice dog friendly beach and walking on one side and the Marsh and canal walk on the other. Canoe and boat hire on the canal was great.
The site has no club or children's play park which adds to the peace and quiet. Beaches are 15-20 minutes drive away.
This is a great site for adults who want to explore Cornwall and enjoy the quiet. It was also great for star gazing as the light pollution was minimal, we enjoyed watching the meteor shower over several nights.
We will definitely be going back.

We spent 10 nights at this site, as the other reviewer stated, the grass pitches were sloping, some very - This is not stated in the current Caravan Club book. There is a garage at the side of the site and the noise from the air compressor every day was not good. The toilets are dated and not up to caravan club standards, also, for the first week, not cleaned very well. The dog walk on site is very small - approx. 3 mtrs by 17 mtrs.
On our 2nd week the site managers changed to the permanent ones (they had been away for a week) and the toilets were cleaned properly, also the very helpful manager offered to tow my caravan off the sloping grass pitch.

Having spent 14nights here, somewhat disappointed with stay.
Was a private site, taken over by the Caravan Club, and usual standards of cleanliness prevail.
However, only 13 hardstandings, the rest are grass and sloping. You have to be lucky to get a hard standing, and impression gained that it is used regularly by locals, ie:not travelling more than 40miles.
Disabled facilities consist of an adapted Portakabin, separate from main toilet block, with key from reception, not RADAR.
Constant disruption by Warden keeping grass in order, as soon as a pitch becomes vacant. Overgrown conifers depositing seed castes and gum nectar on unit, and either require topping or eliminating.
I did not find it to be a quiet peaceful site as stated by the Club, due to traffic noise from very busy B3266 adjacent to site.
Camelford has a Co-op store, and a Londis store/petrol station. Both sell newspapers. Bodmin is the best place for supermarkets, Morrisons, Asda and Lidl, all close together. No play area, and due to sloping pitches more geared for caravans than motorhomes.
