A large field surrounded by low trees on all 4 sides so you can have all day sun if you wish, or choose some shelter if needed. 2 toilets in a portable cabin but no showers, wash basins in both cubicles, but there was no water supply to these at time of visit, but the owner thoughtfully provided bottles of hand sanitiser to each. The usual CS facilities are there, Elsan point, drinking water and rubbish disposal. There is nothing much else on site apart from a picnic bench, no children's play area but loads of space so they can play away from units. But it had everything I wanted, and I will definitely return, very good value for money too at £2 per person per night.
Lovely and quiet, the only sounds being birds, cows and tractors. It is down a narrow lane, but not too far down so access is easy. You get a bit of traffic passing as this lane leads to a water ski club and fishing lakes. No lighting so a great site for star-gazing.
Great site for cycling, we cycled down the flat lane to the River Humber, then along the bank and across the Humber Bridge where we spend a few hours at the Humber Bridge country park.
The owner of the field doesn't live on site, but she is hoping to. She wants to erect a log cabin and maybe add a static caravan at some point, but as yet there are no units for hire, only pitches for your own unit.
There is a pub not far away, The Haven Inn, but I didn’t get a chance to try this. Something for the next visit. There are plenty of shops at nearby Barton-upon-Humber, including a Tesco and a Factory Shop. There is also a cycle shop which hires out bikes too. Thornton Abbey is close by, this is an English Heritage property. There is a railway station at Barrow Haven where you can catch a train to Barton or Cleethorpes, so would be handy for motorhomers who like to use public transport.
