This is a pleasant and quiet campsite. The beach, shops and restaurants are all within easy walking distance. There is also a tram stop nearby which is a convenient way of exploring the coast.
The site itself is predominantly caravans and static holiday homes with little space for tents. Our tent was put between 2 empty static caravans which was a bit odd but didn't cause any issues. Overall I would come back again, as it was quiet at night, good facilities and helpful staff

We spent 8 nights at Camping Astrid over Easter in 2016. We absolutely loved it and will be returning again. The relaxed atmosphere that always seems to accompany MHers on the continent was evident in abundance. The family run site couldn't be more helpful.
The site comprises a lot of chalet homes, some seasonal caravaners and some temporary travellers such as ourselves. Even in late March the site was busy, if not rammed. That said, we never encountered any issues waiting for facilities.
Of the facilities, they are clean and modern. There is a charge for the showers and the shower card (20 euros) is a great way to keep people conscious of how much time they spend running water in a shower for no reason! A great green idea.
Other than that, the site is pretty basic but that's all we were after.
Bredene and the surrounding areas are lovely. We had a hire car to enable us to go further afield and Ieper was one of the trip highlights. But Nieuwpoort and even Oostende are both very nice. We got the light railway to De Haan as well and this was a very nice little town.
We will definitely return and are already planning the trip for next Easter.

We stayed here for 2 nights, at the end of our trip. Location is very good for the beach and the tram into Ostend and about half hour drive into Brugge.
The welcome was friendly and we were shown to our pitch. The pitches are flat with water connection, well laid out and good size pitch. The site itself is very quiet.
The toilets and showers were clean and the showers were either coin operated or card operated which were available from reception. These were more cost effective.
My grumbles were that the toilets were mixed and no toilet paper nor soap or hand dryer, which I feel is the minimum requirement.
I will probably not visit this site again but would not put anyone off who wished to visit the site either.

We turned up at Camping Astrid unannounced and were greeted by a very happy receptionist who willingly found us a pitch for the night. The site does seem to accommodate a vast majority of seasonal vans but they do have some pitches for tourers but not that many. The grounds were immaculate. All the pitches are on grass which was in a really good condition even though it was the end of the season. The water points were ample but the refuse area was at the front of the site and you could encounter a short walk. The showers were also at the front of the site behind reception but toilet blocks are dotted around the site and were spotless.
The site is also in a great location within the resort of Bredene which has a good shopping centre along with a good selection of restaurants and bars. A great beach is within walking distance of the campsite and the sea was crystal clean even though cold! A cycle path runs parallel with the beach and you can cycle for miles. You can also catch a tram into Ostend in one direction and a lovely small resort of Haag in the other which was rather charming.
All in all a great stay and I could have stayed a week instead of a day. Highly recommended.
