This was a site we had been looking forward to staying at during our Normandy walk. Coming from the North we came across the submersible road which was at low tide luckily enough.
The site is set in a circular form and we had a pitch between the beach and a sanitaire. Pitches are open and difficult to see which is yours. A plaque on the ground has pitch numbers. Our pitch was covered in thistles - not good for a lightweight backpacking tent and there was no shelter from wind. Or neighbours.
As it was the first day of the high season the pool was open but the shop wasn't. No problem for car campers but a disaster for walkers and this is on a long distance footpath. Luckily there is a bar/restaurant run by an enthusiastic and friendly couple. It only opened at 5 though. There was nowhere shaded to get out of the sun and it was sunny. The food was good and cheap and was a lifesaver.
It is in a lovely place with many repeat visitors but it wasn't really for us and we were glad to go on our way. Even though it is clean, the lack of privacy, shade and the thistles made it a no no for us. I have to be honest and grade it well on the star system as all was very good but we found it lacking in other factors.

We were looking for a family friendly site with good facilities and came across this site in Brehal. The site is spotlessly clean, lots of shower/toilet blocks, washing up sinks all with hot water and free.
The site has two pools, a shop with fresh bread daily, bar, restaurant and take away, games room, hard court, petanque area and is located next to a sandy beach. The staff speak limited English, but if you make the effort, they do also, the funniest thing was listening to the Hi de Hi announcements in French, German (fluently) and pigeon English. The wardens were always very helpful and made regular rounds always stopping to say hello, and teach us a few phrases.
Our children (10/6) were able to cycle around the site without any problems or being a nuisance to anyone else. The pools open at about 11am and are open until about 8pm, they are clean and safe, with a lifeguard on duty all day, with activities thrown in as well.
The town is a 5 minute drive away and has a lovely market and friendly shopkeepers. There is a lot to do in the surrounding area, St Michaels Mount is 30-45 minutes away, the Normandy beaches about an hour away. On a good day you can see the channel islands fron the site.
This site is very clean, very friendly, good for an adult group or families. We have been 3 times and will go again.
