Gem of a find. Suntrap and sheltered from wind. Slightly sloping in some parts.
6 minutes to Beamish Museum. 2 minutes to Chester le Street and good shops. Best chip shop ' The Old Chippy' at Ouston. Good Chinese' Lotus Garden'.
Metro centre 20 minutes and Durham the same. Tynemouth was great.
Superb beaches.
Friendly young couple.
£10 a night. No electric but we have 50 watt solar.
You can pay £30 a night nearby but less spending money.
Would recommend.

Great little site, very cheap for what you get.
There is everything here as advertised.
The owners were fantastic and helped in everyway they could.
Would highly recommend

We chose this site due to the close proximity of the C2C route. I arrived on my own with the motorhome to wait for the rest of the 'cyclists' to arrive, the owner met me, and was fantastic, taking me to the site and showing me where everything was. He also suggested a good dog walk and a better route off the track for the cyclists.
It cost £8. The site was in a great setting, there was a portable toilet which initially I decided I wouldn't use, but after the others went and said it was spotless I too used it and I am very fussy. There was only us on but lots of level ground and plenty of space for more units.
Next to the site is The Plough pub, ideal for an evening drink, very welcoming and reasonably priced. Close by there are plenty of shops and take aways if you wanted them, very quiet setting and well looked after.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a stop over on the C2C or just to explore the area. Beamish museum is very close.

This site is small and basic. There are no facilities apart from a water tap and dump point. A slightly sloping and uneven field surrounded by trees makes for a sun trap on a nice day. (Levelling ramps are needed)
At the end of the drive is a pub, open all day, but does not do food. Also bus stops, to Chester-le-Street in one direction and Stanley in the other. Beamish Museum is about 15 mins on the bus (direct), Durham 40mins after changing buses in Chester-le-Street.
When we stayed the owner was away and a friend was looking after things, so cannot comment on the welcome normally given.
The whole site could benefit from a bit of tidying up and tlc, but as it is only £7 a night one can not complain.
