I'd just walked 30 miles with my son, we were exhausted. We walked on to the site and were greeted in the best possible way, offered a cup of tea and cake by the friendliest couple who owned the farm.
We pitched by a little brook with geese paddling, opposite the field with cows.
Had a hot shower, cooked our food whilst chatting to the family.
The owner offers an extra blanket as it was going to be a cold night.
The place is awesome, I want the owner to be my gran and I want to move.
Not posh facilities but exactly what I wanted.

Clapton Farm 'camp site' is a rare gem. Actually, I would barely call it a camp site at all - it's a small, simple and basic grass field adjacent to a working farm with a small goat pen to one side, friendly free-range geese and space for about 10 tents, campervans or caravans. To two sides of the field runs a clean brook with a simple timber bridge across.
Its charm is its simplicity and complete lack of commercialism which is how camping used to be and today, sadly, has become hard to find amongst the glut of brash, commercial and over-priced holiday parks. Anyone looking for simple, quiet camping will love this.
Facilities are limited to a toilet, sink with cold water only, a shower and, somewhat surprisingly, a washing machine all tucked into a shed near the entrance. In the centre of the field is a bank of EHU points - a little higgledy-piggledy but fully functional. The owners live in the farmhouse opposite and can be seen driving the tractor during the day and popping onto the field to feed the goats. They were friendly, accommodating and very relaxed making the farm a pleasure to visit. At £8 we also felt it was under-priced.
We stayed for 2 nights and loved it for its peace. Although there were other caravans, only 1-2 appeared to be occupied although we only briefly caught a glimpse and we felt as though we had the field to ourselves.
This is simple, straight-forward camping as it used to be, perfect for tents or small vans and campers who love the outdoors, nature and the countryside. We will be back and are delighted to see it's open year-round.

This is a lovely place have coming here for years from when the kids were small we always had a great time playing in the stream and watching the train go buy even thought the kids are now all grown up they still go to the farm and love its only 15 mins from Lime 5 mins from Crewkerne for shopping for the BBQ. You can go and feed the goats if you like that are in the corner of the field take your dog over to the other field for walks
And most of all relax love it

Found this campsite via UKCampsite.co.uk as I needed to top up with water. Its at the edge of the village, blink and you miss it.
This site is your non typical farm site. There are no real rules apart from enjoy yourself and relax. The owners are so laid back they are nearly horizontal in fact you almost have to chase them to pay your dues. I was charged £9. 50 and this included electric. And use of a washing machine. The electric comes of one post in the middle of the field. The toilet/shower/washing machine is in a shed with a big sign stating clean up after yourself. Which everyone did. There are chickens and in one corner 2 donkeys. The geese come in once a day to eat the grass and the peacock turns up in the evening to check you are ok. I spend 3 days here watching the fish in the brook. Brill.

What can only really be described as a bit of an odd site, but a pleasant enough place all the same, very much no frills camping at no frills prices.
The toilet block is a garden shed, well block is a bit of an exaggeration, it is just one toilet with the shower in the same cubicle and unfortunately it was rather grubby, however, it was December and it is unlikely that there had been many visitors to the site recently, so perhaps it is cleaned in the summer.
There are the normal EHU points, about three or four, no hardstanding and some form of empty animal pen in one corner. There is a small river running along the bottom of the field and in wet weather I can imagine that it could get quite boggy, but this is very much a farm so I understand a tractor is always on hand if necessary to offer a quick tow.
Only briefly met the owners when paying and were pleasant enough and after that as the only campers on site we were left to enjoy the local cider. We walked to, planned, and back from, not planned, Crewkerne and it was about 3 miles along a fairly quiet country road. Crewkerne is a pleasant town with a number of decent pubs and a couple of supermarkets.
I’d return but with friends rather than family as this site is not high on facilities and standards but is high on simplicity, cheapness and on just being a field in rural Somerset.
