 Spent the bank holiday weekend at Town Head Farm. Had the site to ourselves with was great and unexpected. The site itself is very basic, no toilets or showers but is in a fantastic area. You drive past the farm yard, past old horse boxes and caravan storage area onto the camping field. The camping area is very slightly sloped but there are flat areas and it was easy enough to level up. There is some shelter on the site but we chose an area without as we wanted to make the most of the view.
There are numerous public footpaths near to the site. We walked into Burley in Wharfedale along one of the footpaths and used the stepping stones to cross the river. However, this may not always be possible if the river level is too high.
The area is popular with walkers and cyclist. There are a lot of cyclist in this area and you do need to be aware of this when driving around.
You will need to stock up with supplies before arriving on site but there is a selection of shops in Burley in Wharfedale including a small Co-op, there are also a number of pubs which serve food and are dog friendly as well as a good selection of takeaways. Otley and Ikley are also a short drive away if needed. Unfortunately, the pub in Askwith has recently closed which is a real shame.
All in all we had a brilliant weekend. I'd happily return to Town Head Farm and the area. It was a great price of £5 per night for 2 adults and a dog.
