Great campsite although it was let down by the loo facilities; it was a portacabin but the owner had explained difficulty in obtaining others at this time.
Great for one night.
This place has great potential.

Very convenient for an overnight stay after ferry from Arran. Easy to find.
Pleasant site, very friendly and helpful owners.
Adequate, clean facilities, good for a CS.

A typical C&CC CS. Well cared for site with both grass and hardstanding, all with hook up.
Good views over open fields and very convenient for Troon and the surrounding area. Shops and filling station nearby.
Very friendly owners and even a game of croquet if you wish!

Top marks for this little gem. The grounds were immaculate. A small shop is a short walk away, as is a very nice restaurant, The Old Inn at Loans.
Everyone on site was friendly and several visitors had stayed before, which says much about a site.
This was my visit, but I look forward to staying again soon.

I found the campsite to be small and well maintained, most of the pitches are level, and the campsite owners are very nice people.
I will be booking this campsite again when next I'm in the area.

On arrival, we were met with a very friendly site owner, as the local town was host to an 'Airshow' of high magnitude, the site was relatively full, the site is tidy, clean, and very well managed, the site is on the corner of two busy roads, there is some road noise at times, but, don't let this put you off, its a great location, local amenities, bus routes etc, we are golfers, and this was a lovely experience as we were situated on the crossroads to all the main courses in the area with minutes to drive, rather than being stuck in the town with traffic to negotiate. Give it a try!

This a C & CC Certified Site.
It is easy to find but that is the problem - it is at the junction of two roads and the traffic noise is constant.
The site itself is all grass (gentle slope) which is neatly cut but there are quite a few commercial type vehicles around the site some of which are a bit of an eye sore.
To the front of the CS there is a large rally field used by the C & CC.
Although it has sea views there was a haze when we were there with poor visibility.
There are no facilities on site so your own toilet facilities are required. Cost with EHU £11. 00 without £8. 00 per night.
The chemical disposal system was a raised tank and I was unable to lift our toilet up that high to empty it so OK for the young and fit.
We had very little sleep and certainly would not return.

We stayed here the night before catching the ferry from Ardrossan, not far away. There is not much choice of where to stay nearby, unfortunately. Glenburn is fine for a night's stay and some people stay longer as it's such good value. No WC's or showers but water and EHU available. No problems with the EHU which is the standard system now. When you arrive there are few signs and maybe no-one around to welcome you but just pitch up and the friendly owner will find you later. The field is kept neat but there is some detritus around the site which could be tidier. Roads nearby on 2 sides so some noise but open fields looking the other way and plenty of space. The entrance is close to a mini roundabout but we didn't have a problem getting in or out - just be patient and take care.

According to the owner, this is the second year of operation for this site. It has a long way to go to be acceptable. The most serious drawback is the very dangerous entrance and exit to the site. It is very close to a small roundabout in the village of Loans. There is a lot of traffic and getting out of the site is very difficult - especially with the very restricted sight line to the left.
When we were there the grass had not been cut and was very long. The electrics leave a lot to be desired in as much they are provided via domestic extension leads therefore anyone visiting will need an adaptor for their electric cable with a domestic 13 amp plug.
Also whilst we were there, there was a Camping and Caravanning Club rally in the adjacent field - albeit there were very few vans. This field had a much safer access and egress and could be accessed from the CS site. However, when I tried to use this in my car I was approached by the steward who told me in a very unreasonable and unfriendly manner that I must use the more dangerous entrance. He was not a good advert for the 'Friendly Club'.
