We arrived here on a wet November evening with no reservation and it was difficult to find where to check-in but someone appeared from a house and told us to park next to a caravan while the warden was found. Then a woman raps on the window; “you can’t stop here, this is a fishery” were her first words, “why not, it is also a campsite” says I, “well, it can be but you can’t stay for nothing” she retorts, “I don’t expect to, I was told to wait here until the warden tells me how much to pay” I replied. With that she stomps off with a scowl on her face. Not the most pleasant greeting to a site that I have received and I might have driven off had it been earlier in the day but then the friendly warden arrived and said the woman was new on the site and had nothing to do with the fishery and Leisure Park.
This is a lovely location with the camping area amongst the fishing lakes and the clean toilet and shower block at the end of a large workshop unit. We were the only campers and stopped beside the workshop overlooking one of the lakes. It is close to the M6 and was ideal as the stopover that we needed but I’m not a fisherman and wouldn’t stay for more than a night or maybe two. And not at all if that woman showed up again.

We booked on the only electric hookup pitch which was at the side of the garage unit. The view from our van was of one of the lakes with the trees and birds singing. The toilets, showers and washroom was just at the end, they are basic but with plenty of hot water always. This is a fishing site which my husband loves, with lovely lodges and a couple of camping pods for hire. It was beautiful and peaceful. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. If you don't want anything but fishing and to relax this is the place. We will be coming here again.
