We've just returned from 2 nights at Sychpwll, it was our first camping trip with our 16 month old.

The site is very romantic!

There's two unisex wash rooms with a couple of showers, basins and toilets in each. The water pressure is pretty hit and miss so showers can be great but then can be pretty cold.

There's a lovely kitchen that has lots of facilities and utensils, including a large freezer and fridge as well as a table and chairs for 6.

There's a few glamping buildings around which again are really quaint.

The fields are all wild flower and you can either pitch up in the middle or one of the more tended areas on the outskirts.

The whole area is perfect for relaxing from wild flower fields to wander, large open playing areas, a playground and a river (canoes available to hire).

The owners are really lovely and always willing to help, this is an eco site and a labour of love not money, even the fire pits are free to use.

My only concerns are that it's VERY remote and get it wrong with the timing and wasps are everywhere after the local fields have been cut (the owners were super helpful and brought wasp traps round)

Just back from the Sychpwll Centre. It was wonderful. The owner was so friendly and gave me a tour of the place including the accommodation, which I called the Hobbit house. It is stunning. I'd like to spend a week there if possible. The river is about 30 seconds away, the showers were clean.

A gem or a campsite, which I chose because of the website. I was working in the area and picked this one, which is half an hour away from where I was working. Despite there being another campsite a lot closer, that would have taken me 4 minutes to get to. All in all a wise choice.

A little difficult to find if using Sat Nav. But a quick call soon got me there. (Uh err, would have helped if I had read the directions).

I'm going again and taking friends with me.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at this place. Owner and site manager couldn't have been more welcoming upon arrival and throughout the stay. It was a last minute decision and we wanted a site were we could bbq and enjoy an open fire.

Being early in the season, there was only a couple of pitches that had been mown and we chose to stay near the (spotless) toilets in a smaller field rather than the vast meadow field usually allocated to campers. There is the added bonus of a camp kitchen used by guests staying in the camping barns and campers alike. (Very useful to use the kettle to fill the hot water bottles at night!)

It was a great place to try out our new tent. The area has an amazing peaceful feel to it.

We were only there two nights and therefore didn't explore the surrounding area.

This was base camp for a charity dog walk of 100 miles from Barmouth to Wolverhampton. Jason was friendly helpful and discussed best place for the tent with regards the 8 dogs that we took along for the walk. Our first time tenting and we found the experience wonderful (if not a bit cold!) The field we had to ourselves due to time of year, and it was very peaceful and restful especially after walking 12 - 13 miles a day. The facilities were very very clean, with lovely lovely hot showers to soothe aching muscles and warm the body. The toilets were very clean and accessible too.

Where we pitched was quite open to elements so for a more sheltered pitch would suggest the meadow - however this location worked for us! We were able to charge some electrical goods for a small donation. The cost is reasonable for the facilities and you are within a radius of some lovely towns Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Welshpool. More locally on turning left out of Llandrinio on the A458 is a butty bar for breakfast on way out for the day as it is 24 hours! Petrol and small convenience store is opposite too!

I think the place is super peaceful and great for the dogs - they loved it and are still dreaming about it!

This was a last minute decision to take advantage of the bank holidays with a 2 day camping break.

Managed to find this site on the internet, not knowing what to expect, other than it had space, was just over an hours drive away and we could light a fire.

The owner could not have been more welcoming offering us a hot drink and warm shelter out of the rain in a pleasant room complete with wood burning stove and kitchen facilities which was available to use throughout the stay.

We were given free reign to pitch wherever we saw fit on 2 large fields. There were no specific pitches mapped out although the fields were mowed round the edges and left as a wild meadow effect in the middle which seemed to work well. There was plenty of room.

Toilet block was kept clean and offered good facilities. It conisted of 2 blocks with 3 sinks and 2-3 toilets and 2-3 showers in each. Could have been further improved with the addition of soap and hooks for clothes in the shower and there wasn't always hot water in the hand basins but the showers were hot and powerful.

Fire pits were provided and a plentiful amount of wood could be purchased for £10.

The owner explained we were his social experiment / guinea pigs as this was his first season of providing camping and overall we had a really pleasant and enjoyable experience. Just a few tweaks here and there would further improve things but they are only minor as it was an excellent campsite made all the better by the warm welcome we received.

The owner frequently went beyond the call of duty eg. gave one of the children in our party some old carrots to feed to the resident (grumpy!) horse and giving other children plants to take home and grow and offering a couple who had difficulty starting their fire help with it the following night.

We didn't venture much in to the surrounding area but Welshpool and Oswestry are within 10 miles. We did take a pleasant walk up to Rodney's Pillar (a 5 minute drive). It is about 1 - 2. 5 mile walk depending which of the 3 routes you take up but well worth it for the views.

There isn't much nearby other than a Spar general store. There were a couple of pubs in Llandrinio although they didn't look overly inviting but, as I say we were perfectly content on site so didn't venture very far.
