Arrived at this site for no other reason that I couldn't get anywhere else at short notice - due to it being a BH weekend.
First impressions aren't good at all. The ample camping field being accessed through a maze of industrial units. The field itself is billed as 'gently sloping'. Id say the slope was more than 'gentle', needing all my chocks to get one side of the van another six inches off the ground. And even this wasn't enough to get bang level.
I would also say, if the field was wet, and you didn't have four wheel drive, on the lower pitches you would struggle to get out given the only access was at the top of the field.
The pitch sizes are very generous, with 1 and 2 at least having water on tap, as part of the hook-up post. (didn't look at the rest, but they could easily have been the same?) The views also, were good, but you couldn't escape the noise of the A43 road down below you.
Waste water was disposed of where it fell from the unit (at the behest of the amiable patron - wouldn't fancy being in a tent on the pitches!). Chemical emptying wasn't as easy. Requiring driving back through the industrial units to a point maybe 200 yards away in a corner out of the way.
Given we were the only ones on this site on a BH weekend, I am guessing there are not too many repeat visitors - outside the masses who descend on the place for nearby Silverstone Race meets (additional adjacent space for these). Which I suspect is the main reason for it existing to start with.
There is nothing at all for kids. In fact the electric fence around the adjacent paddock was distinctly un-child-friendly. (but, they wouldn't touch it twice!) We were told there was a walk along the fields, but didn't have time to try it. TV reception was decent.
I wouldn't return either if I'm honest. But if you are desperate (we were), for a tenner a night you cant go wrong once you get through the very off-putting access route - which is well screened from view once on site. Ive tried to be fair and honest here, as the actual camping field/pitches (slope aside) views/patrons are very good, coupled with the cheap fee. But the access + CDP are definite downers.
