We used this site as a stop off to travel south through France. As it was low season there was little choice of campsites that were open. Unfortunately, there had been a lot of rain and the site was pretty waterlogged.
We were lucky to get one of three hardstandings. Electricity was next to the pitch, a short walk to the water tap.
The site was pretty basic with an old ‘sanitaire’ which was closed for winter and repairs. We were able to use the heated shower in the disabled toilet by the swimming pool.
The shower had a short timer and there was nowhere to hang anything. There was no washing up facility so we did this in the caravan. Reception was a very small set up in the lobby at the house and looked very unofficial.
The pool was closed as it was very early season. There is a restaurant attached to the campsite but this was closed during our stay.
We won’t return to this site. It is more suited to motor homes or larger units with full facilities on board during the low season.

This campsite was perfect for our overnight stopover:
Clean toilets and washing facilities,
Friendly and helpful owner and staff,
Clean grass pitches and good hardstanding sections, plenty of electric hook-ups,
Good sized swimming pool, has its own campsite restaurant area, out in the country and well away from any main road.
The weather was wet but it was mid April (Thursday, 13th), so not unexpected!

Showers on a ridiculously short timer and just warm. Winter washroom and toilet facilities shared with restaurant customers from 7pm most nights.
Site is in a good position for walking to town. Pool small and during summer months you have to book a slot.
Wi fi 3 euros! a day. Much cheaper in better campsites. Should be free these days especially when UK customers are charged for roaming.

A good experience on this site and if ever we are in that area again would happily make a return visit.
Met by Nigel (the warden) upon arrival, who was friendly and helpful. Location very pleasant, good for flat cycling, good dog walks, easy walk into Chef Boutonne.
Facilities basic but clean and well maintained. Bar and restaurant very good, swimming pool looked good although we did not try it. WIFI worked well.
Overall, very enjoyable stay and would recommend this site.

The previous 2 reviews pretty much sum up this site but the toilet block has been upgraded and is very clean and maintained. Wifi is pretty good and €11 per week - 1 device - and half price for second. Site in ACSI low season scheme at €14 per night. There is good flat cycling on the quiet roads around the area. Nice park too at the chateau on edge of town.
Super you in Chef Boutonne. 15 minute walk to town on pedestrian facilities and pavements.
Warden on site and owners in Mill Restaurant / Pool which looks good. Restaurant popular but untried by us.
Site well maintained.

Firstly I must say what a lovely well kept and pretty campsite, toilets and showers spotless.
On arrival we were welcomed by Nigel who was very helpful.
We arrived on Friday 22nd August for a 14 night stay with our son and his family with their caravan also. Unfortunately it soon became apparent that the owners felt that the season was more or less over, (even though we paid peak time prices). The bar was closed most of the time, although we were told if we wanted a drink to just ask, (you shouldn't have to do that surely). Small play area for the children next to owners home, resulted in children being told to keep the noise down one evening. One plus was we had exclusive use of the pool most of the time. Not a lot to see and do without having to travel miles. Also eaten alive by mozzies, never known it so bad in France. Had my son not paid his balance in full we would have moved on to somewhere else

The day we turned up on the site it was raining so first impressions were not good, however with the sun coming out the nicer the site got, well kept with little bushes separating the pitches.
The toilet block was clean and had everything that you would expect.
We don't have a glue who the owners were but the chap who was in charge was very helpful.
The main problem that we encountered were the the mosquito's that were around in the evening due to the small stream running next to the site also the duck in the stream and the nearby road was quite noisy early in the morning.
The bar/restaurant was very good but, as most of France, was closed a lot of the time.
Would think twice before going back due to the mossies.

Lovely little site, very friendly and informal. Booked last minute and pleased we could be accommodated although I believe it is full during peak season. Many people on site had returned returned time and again which speaks volumes.
Staff and owners very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Restaurant and bar good, take away Chinese excellent and a welcome change if you've been away for a long time.
Toilet block a bit basic but kept very clean. Paid for Internet connection which worked from our unit so worth shelling out for.
Plenty to do in the area from walking to bike riding to visiting the many markets in the area and fabulous sites and chateaux.
Would definitely return.
