This is a large shady site with a mix of statics and touring pitches. Eurocamp also have a presence, but they are tucked away in a corner of the site. The touring pitches are in small 'avenues' and some pitches are odd shapes. On the whole I think it would be tight for large outfits. We struggled to pitch successfully, but that was mainly due to our motor mover having packed up, so we weren't able to tweek at all.
The site has a gate leading directly to the beach - a mix of sand and scrub, but which is dog friendly. The gate shuts quite early in the evening, but there is another way round by the road and through the front gate.
There are a number of unisex sanitary blocks dotted around the site. No paper provided. (Unusually we found this was a rare occurrence this year. In the past we have always had to use our own paper everywhere we go. )
The on-site shop carried a wide range of goods at quite reasonable prices. There is no need to order bread in advance. There is also a bar/restaurant and takeaway. All these facilities are in a complex, together with the pool. I noticed loudspeakers above the wash block nearest to our pitch, so I don't know whether these could be a problem in the high season! There is also a gym on site.
Good English appears to be spoken at reception, but we had our doubts about the level of comprehension. For example, we had visited the site on a Monday when we were in the area and booked for a week from the following Thursday - clarified in English and also in (some) French. When we arrived, we found that they thought that we had been there since Monday anyway. However, this was fairly quickly sorted, although the pitch allocated to us (we explained about the motor mover) was no longer available. They told us of 3 or 4 pitches we could choose from, although a couple turned out to be already occupied. After some difficulty (and lots of help from other campers) we managed to get our tourer onto a pitch big enough for us to put out the awning.
The site is within walking distance of a street with shops, bars and restaurants. Also a cash till. We were able to visit other places in the area, such as Argeles sur Mer, Collioure and also Perpignan.
This is an ACSI site and there is another next door, There were 2 euros a night difference and I don't know what the more expensive one had that this didn't.
We prefer smaller, quieter and more rural sites and only selected Ste Marie as we were meeting our son who was flying into Perpignan. It is unlikely that we would stop here again, although there are quite a few places that we would be happy to explore further.
