Chose this site from the ACSI book for an overnighter on our slow journey south. A pleasant site next to the river and woodlands, and near to the town.
We were checked in quickly and invited to choose our own pitch, but warned of a rally in 1 section of the site.
The rally was American cars, so it was interesting to see them.
The pitches were mainly flat and grassy, not manicured so a natural look, but all in rows.
There are 2 sanitary blocks, separate sex facilities, all upstairs (flooding risk?) apart from a downstairs disabled facility. Washing up is downstairs under cover in 1 block. It was all nice and clean.
Town is nearby with a few shops, not very interesting, we did have a cycle round. Plenty of cycle paths.
An inexpensive campsite we would use again for the odd night, but wouldn't want to spend a holiday here.

We stayed for 2 nights, not too busy with good sized pitches at a reasonable rate. Office staff were very helpful, (in English) we had a puncture and they assisted us. A new toilet block has recently been built, so all nicely up-dated. Didn't find the town too interesting though. But nice and peaceful site by the riverside, so a relaxing place to stay, long or short. A proper drive over motorhome service point

Great campsite for stopover or longer stay. Even in August we had a choice of pitches and found one overlooking river. Were also lovely pitches overlooking river for cycle tourists. Very reasonable cost about 14E a night for family of 4. Good facilities and playground. Was quiet at night. Council campsite under bridge at reduced cost for campers about 5E for family of 4, need speedos. Has slide and springboard. Also small reductions for some other tourist attractions in area. We really enjoyed troglodyte caves at Rochmeinier and sculptures at Pierre Luminaire near Saumur. Cycling on mainly shared roads, with some voie verte. Canoeing bivouac was fantastic (need own tents, food and sleeping bags).

This is an excellent site - especially given that it is a municipal site. The pool is fantastic (diving board and 3. 6m deep and about 20m long) but is a couple of hundred yards from the site and costs about a Euro for campers.
Plenty of space. Facilities not too clean but adequate. Hot water is not very hot. Approximately 60 boules pitches just outside the site (really!). Very good value. The bridge nearby has a bit of traffic noise and rumble.
The Loire is marvellous - just don't expect a valley. On the road to Saumer there are several caves where you can taste and buy wine, look at mushrooms growing and snails creeping around.

We stopped at this site whilst travelling through France on route to Bordeaux and knew nothing about it before arrival.
We found it to be a nice spacious site, with good sized pitches, in a park like setting. The facilities were simple but met our needs, with a good children's play area.
There is a nice municipal swimming pool within 2 mins walk, and a van comes round every morning selling baguettes and croissants.
We ended up staying for 3 nights just enjoying the peace and ambiance.
The aspect of being on the banks of the Loire made it particularly appealing.
There are nice bike rides to be had around the surrounding area, it did seem to be a popular stop off point for cyclists as I think it's on a national cycle route.
We also found it to be good value for money.
