First time we have visited the Isle of Skye, it is beautiful! Wonderful weather we were very lucky.
The campsite has a main house (bunk house) with 17 bunks in one side and a similar amount in another room. We stayed in a 'wigwam' which is a pod with beds microwave and kettle. It was well insulated and comfortable. There are 3 wigwams to hire. The first thing that hit me was the smell! The wigwam absolutely stank, we bought air freshners and room sprays. It looked clean but the smell of 'wet dog' was awful. It turned out that dogs are allowed in the pods and you certainly could tell, not my idea of pleasant although I am a dog lover. The camp has attached bothies which can take 2, 4 and ?6 people in the 3 dwellings, these have their own toilets ans showers.
Theresa and Billy have taken on a failing business and are trying to make it work, I wish them all the best with this.
To help it would be useful to: have toilets that worked adequately. One did not flush at all and given how many people potentially could be using them only having 3 toilets for the whole camp is not enough. There were only 2 showers! All toilets and showers were combined so men and women used them so there was little if any privacy.
Potential campers should be made aware of this cosmopolitan approach to toilets/washing as it certainly did not suit us!
The main attraction seems to be for casual over night back packers which is fine but we booked a wigwam for the week so we had a base each night but we were not happy with the 'toilet facilities'set up and would not choose to book again.
I do hope the business is a success but a lot more work is required.
