One of the best campsites that I have visited. At £8 a night its great value and there are set fires with stones to sit on around the fire. One of the fires even has a grill that you can raise and lower over the fire, ideal for a barbecue.
The site is well maintained and well sign posted to all the facilities.
If you like fishing there's even a pool that you can fish, at a cost of £8 or £5 if you are staying on site.
The owner, Ian, could not have been more welcoming. If you like caping in a tent and having a fire you could not pick a better site.
Only downside, the toilets and facilities in the field draw water from the stream so if you need drinking water or want a shower you will need to go to the main site where all the campervans and caravans are located.

Lovely quiet site with amazing night sky.
Ignore satnav restriction. It only applies to the last 1/4 mile. No different from a single track road.

Lovely location, actually split into 3 small fields which was nice, between 5 and 8 van pitches in each, plus a separate one 200 meters away for camping. All have hard standing and EHU though you may need a long cable.
One of the fields is reserved as a CL. Owner very friendly. Non mains water supply so pressure is a bit low, but you can watch the birds on about 6 hanging feeders while you wait.
Good value at £17. 50/night inc EHU.
Fabulous views generally very nice quiet site (apart from one yapping little dog). Great hotel near by for eating out (Brigands Inn SY20 9HJ)
The one big let down was type toilet/shower block. 1 shower (£1 for 10 minutes) and 2 toilets for up to 20 vans. It looked like it had not been cleaned for months. Such a shame for an otherwise really nice site.

First camping experience with all family members. 5 tents in all. Because of coved restrictions we were unable to use showers. We had the top camping field to ourselves. There was a sink and toilet with water from the river. Drinking water was fetched from up near farm house. Weather was awful most of the time. But we made the best of the time.
The park has a couple of areas with fire pits with boulders all around to sit around camp fire. We all enjoyed having toasted marshmallows.
The area is beautiful, but again we didn’t see a lot of it because of the weather. We were hoping to go fishing in their lake with stunning views but weather spoiled that too.
Just outside the town. We drove in to get a takeaway one night and the order came to over a £120 for all orders, they gave each order a free 2ltr bottle of pop, which I thought was very good of them. There is a stream runs through the park, it was at the back of our tent and was quite loud. But we like to hear running water.
There is a rubber tyre swing hanging on metal chain from a tree, my grandchildren loved it. Plenty of space for our dogs to have a run around.
Would like to go back again, hopefully with some better weather. Owner very nice, left us to it. We knew where he was if we needed anything. Obv due to coved restrictions on site showers etc. Not the owners fault.
Not far from Barmouth, had great fish and chips.

This is our second visit to Bryn Y Gwin. We camped on the top field with friends. Our stay was very basic, with just a little hut with a toilet and sink but that's all we needed for our stay.
The firepits on site are amazing, big enough for a large fire with boulders to sit on. Don't forget your marshmallows!
There's a stream running alongside the field which is nice to listen to while lying in your tent. You can walk into Dolgellau which takes about 15 mins - the walk back to the campsite takes longer due to the steep hill.
In the village there are a few pubs and shops. Barmouth and Bala are a short drive away too.
I'd recommend this campsite for their welcoming hosts, location and price.

A great site in a wonderful location. The pitches are very big, level and hardstanding (lakeside field). The setting is very tranquil with a feeling of wild camping. The town of Dolgellau is a 15 minutes walk downhill from the site.
There are a few communal fire pit areas but also able to have a fire at your pitch. There is one shower and two toilets which were adequate even on a bank holiday weekend.
The owner greeted us on arrival but left us to it over the 4 nights we were there. Very handy for walking and 8 miles to coed y brenin mountain bike centre. A 20 minute bus journey takes you into Barmouth.
We will definitely visit again.

Lovely views but very basic and tired facilities. They would be just adequate for the certificated location, but as they are also used by the adjacent site, they are not really good enough, especially if you are in a tent.
Visit during school holidays if you want peace and quiet because there is a rope swing right next to the CL pitches, and the shrieks and screams of understandably excited children do not contribute to a peaceful and relaxing stay for those over the age of twelve.

Stopped here when we walked up Cadair Idris to celebrate my daughter finishing her GCSEs. Short drive to the coast or the mountains.
This was an idyllic spot - set up with children in mind and well suited to adults who enjoy seeing them having fun. The site is spread around several separate small areas part stream-side meadows, part mountain views.
Pitches were leveled. There is a large communal camp fire area up the hill and plenty of scrub to burn. When we arrived a big wedding party had pitched up and dozens of children were tumbling around in and out of the stream. Just a delight.
Facilities were basic but fine if you are expecting to camp on a campsite!

Great little site with hardstanding and hookups for all vans. Ideal site to drive to the car park for Cadair Idris, but a short drive from the town too.
Do follow owner's instructions as road closures complicated things while we were there, but he made it simple! Small toilet/shower block which could get busy if the site were full, but there is waste disposal so self-sufficient van owners would be fine at all times. Communal campfire area looks good, but we didn't try it.
Some play space for children but nothing 'organised' for them.
