We decided to make a change for our New Year Celebrations! We spent 4 days, 3 nights away over new year and it was a lovely refreshing getaway. Mercades, the lady that ran the Wigwams was very friendly and helpful, not just on arrival but also through emails leading up to the break. The site itself was very clean. Shower and toilet facilities were fine, showers were warm however the only fault was that the doors to the toilets wouldn't shut properly, luckily it was a quiet so no one was going to walk in! There was a tea room on site but we didn't use it. The site is just off a main road and a 15 minute drive to Elan Valley. This is well worth a visit. Fantastic views of the reservoirs, dams and waterfalls. There were several walks to do round the area and even my 14 year old son enjoyed it! We also spent a day at Powys castle, a national trust place, again this was a stunning place and worth a visit. We did take our camping stove to cook some meals however there was a lovely pub down the road which was very reasonably priced and there were plenty of choices. New Years eve we ate at a chinese buffet in Llandrindod Wells which was a short drive away.
After going on many camping trips in the tent during the summer time this was a great alternative for the colder months! Ps the wigwams were lovely and warm!
