 Lovely site beside a small shallow river, with decent-sized grassy pitches separated by hedges, with a wide choice of sunshine or shade.
Two very clean sanitaires with good showers and wash basins in cubicles. There are toilet seats, paper, soap and paper towels. There is a motorhome point with a drive-over drain.
We were welcomed by a friendly guardienne who spoke good english, though we are okay with french. We were allowed to choose our own pitch. Good bread and croissants are available from 8am if ordered the day before.
We had intended to stay just for one night, but it's such a lovely site and the shade was so welcome in the heatwave we stayed for four. We were charged €13. 40 a night including electricity.

This is a gem of a site, right on the banks of La Sioule. The grassy reinforced pitches have a gentle slope towards river but are of a good size with modern 10 amp hookup points.
The facilities had seen better days but were clean and the water is hot. The free wi-fi extends to some of the pitches around the reception block. If you want it, there is a large marquee for eating/cooking in inclement weather.
The warden (Sabrina) is Dutch but employed by the commune, speaks excellent English and is very helpful.
There are a lot of good walks along the Gorge de la Sioule which are not too taxing. The Puy de Dome and the Vocanic area are nearby.
If approaching from direction of Montlucon (D2144), take the second indicated turning towards the Roman bridge. The first, will involve a sharp turn which may be difficult for caravans.
There is a bakery up the hill in Menat, but major shopping/fuel is in St Eloy-les-mines about 6 kilometres away.
All this for 10 euros a night (2 people, unit, ehu, etc). A must have site on your list
