We chose this site to visit friends in Bishops Lydeard which is about 3 miles away and is the nearest shop. We had asked for hard standing but were told they didn’t have them.
On arrival we were pitched in a large open field, the ground was firm, the pitch had EHU and water. There was a large hut in the middle of the field with washing up and communal fridge/ freezer.
The toilet facilities were housed in a small wooden building and housed two ladies and one gents toilet and one urinal. The building also housed one unisex shower. We were told there was also an ‘open air’ shower further away. That was a single corrugated building.
On our second night we were told to expect 30+ Duke of Edinburgh awards teenagers plus their supervisors. Who would share the field for one night. In the event the group were no problem. We returned that day to find a lot of tents and the occupants who also shared the limited toilet facilities. We were told that the site regularly hosts groups.
On our last day we were told there was and extra charge for our small tow car. As I hadn’t been told about the extra £6 we challenged this, we felt the £28 daily charge was appropriate given the facilities.
The manager became verbally aggressive. Eventually waiving the £6, but then charged £5 for the friends who had dropped us off.
If you are happy with basic campsites this site would be fine.

Just spent a couple of lovely days on this peaceful site, surrounded by the Quantock and Blackdown Hills.
The site is level and surrounded by farmland and a paddock. The far end has a small orchard and beehives.
The facilities are simple: water, CDP and a little washroom/toilet. Just the way we like it.
Nearby is the West Somerset preserved railway station at Bishops Lydeard, and on the Sunday morning, hearing church bells and the sound of a steam loco working made us feel as if we'd travelled back in time.
We liked it so much, we'll be back, probably in possession of an OS Explorer 140 map to make exploring a little easier.
