Me and partner stayed there for 2 nights, we had such a lovely stay and was welcomed by Rob and his lovely partner Rio, we had the place to our selfs and enjoyed every minute.
Rob said we could help our selfs to twigs for the fire in his forest, which we did, it is located at the end of the field with a nice monument he had built.
Not many local amenities, so a shop in advance is advised, and if you require washing up facilities, to take some with you. But the toilet and shower room was lovely and clean with toiletries in case you needed them.
Will def be back again, when the weather picks up.

Folly field is a delightful site, it is a hidden gem. We had a very nice weekend with some great weather and we were the only ones there! Rob, the site owner is very friendly and made us more than welcome. As has been mentioned he has built a folly alongside the hard standing area which looks like the wall and window of an old church which is in fact where the stone has come from. This certainly adds character to the site and we were parked just next to it. Rob has also built a round temple folly in the woods to the back of the large field. The hard standing area is quite small but there is a big field alongside with electric points. There is a small toilet & shower block which has separate facilities for male and female, the showers are free but the cubicle contains the toilet so if the shower is in use you`re a little stuck (the male urinal is separate). There are facilities for emptying toilet waste (which has been built to resemble an old village pump to keep in with the folly) and waste water. There are a couple of fresh water taps but no dishwashing area. The electric hook up is charged separately at the end of your stay (we used £1. 50 over a warm weekend for a bit of cooking and tele watching).
What you do get for the very reasonable price is a well looked after, clean site in very peaceful surroundings. There is excellent walking and cycling (very flat) in the area but there aren`t a great many places to actually visit close by. There is a nature reserve not far away but, at the time of writing, no pubs particularly close (there is a pub close by but it has been closed for a while).
Depending on the route taken the roads leading to the site are quite narrow but the traffic is light.
This is an excellent site for a relaxing, peaceful break and as it`s quite close to us we will definitely be back.

Had the most wonderful time at Folly Field in our touring caravan. It is the most relaxing place to stay. Robert & Rio made us so welcome and went out of there way to make us enjoy our time there.
The grounds are lovely very clean and tidy. Dogs are safe to run round the paddock and play. We will be visiting again very soon. So if you want to relax and chill it is the perfect place to do so. The bird song on a morning is lovely to listen to.

Spent a brilliant weekend at Folly Field, wish it could have been longer. There are two camping areas, a very large flat field, with good shelter or the hard standing area which is adjacent to the ruined church wall/window folly. We chose to stay on the field and as we were the only ones there, could pitch where we wanted. Ehu is available if needed. There are toilets and a unit is being fitted with new toilets and showers, which should be completed soon. There is a designated dog walk which goes through the wooded area and passes a small temple folly. There is a useful local information area which is situated in a Townsend 1965 tourer. The whole site is very attractive and well maintained. Rob, the owner, is friendly is happy to stop and chat with campers and has a good knowledge of the area. There is a very large garage which houses part of the owners classic car collection that can be used by groups, if it is prearranged with the owner.
The pub in the village has recently closed, hopefully it will reopen, as it's up for sale. A fish & chip van visits the village on Thursday evenings and a bakery van visits but I've forgotten which days. There is a bus stop in the village and the buses run between Scunthorpe & Goole. There are no shops in Garthorpe but it is a short drive to Crowle where there is a range of pubs(which serve food)/takeaways/shops and a golf course. The site is also around 10 miles from Goole where there is a large Morrisons and Tescos as well as a swimming pool/leisure centre.
The site is close to the River Trent and there are some good walks along the river, follow the track to the slipway and you can walk either way along the river bank. It's also a good area for cycling as it is very flat, Rob offered to lend us some bikes as we didn't have ours, which was kind.
This site is an absolute gem and I think it will become popular in the future. We will definitely be returning, great price of £10 per night for 2 adults and a dog, without Ehu.
