Not sure why the other reviews are so bad.
Almost every pitch has a sea view, plenty of toilets, basin and showers, all free. Toilet paper isn't provided though. There is a small shop and bar on site and several restaurants within 2km. There is also an intermarche within 3km.
The playground keeps the children occupied and the beach is literally a stones throw away. OK, the pitches are not bowling greens, but they're more than adequate.
The highlight for us was picking our own mussels at low tide, delicious! Everyone was breaking the 'no charcoal barbecues' rule, which suited us!
We'll definitely visit again.

We stayed at this site on our way home, it was recommended to us as a good site and convenient for the ferry at Calais. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The site has a tired and uncared-for feel about it, the pitches are ill-defined and scruffy, it reminded me of some downmarket sites I have seen on the North Wales coast. The toilet blocks are basic ie no toilet seats, toilet paper or hand washing facilities. A further inconvenience is that all the facilities- reception, shop and bar all close at 6. 00pm. The only plus point is that there is a decent restaurant about 400m down the sea front. As this site is listed in the Camping Cheques book we expected it to be of a good standard, as all the other sites we have stayed at in the book have been, and to cap it all, it is not very near to Calais, it took us a good hour to get there. I would only recommend this site as a last resort.

The only thing this site has going for it is its location by the sea. It fails on all other fronts.
The facilities were filthy and in a poor state of repair, the staff were unhelpful.
There was broken glass on the pitches,
It was difficult to find and there were local youths hanging around the toilet blocks keeping warm.
Staff made me hand over my Passport as a deposit then just left it in a tupperware tub on the desk, very worrying and in hindsight we will never leave passports again.

I intended to stay at this site for 2 nights in order to shower and chill out, after staying at the Aire at Le Crotoy, before catching a ferry home. I used Camping Cheques and made the mistake in paying in advance. Based on previous camping cheque sites and the mistaken believe, that if it was in the brochure it must have been vetted. The showers were cold, the toilet facilities rudimentary, no hand washing facilities at all in the toilet, and generally very tired and grubby. I made the decision to only stay one night as I could not condone this site. When I complained on leaving, the reception agreed that the sanitary facilities were poor. I asked for a refund but because it was a French Bank Holiday, they could not contact 'Camping Cheques', but promised that they would. I explained that I paid in advance as this site was recommended by 'Camping Cheques'. Subsequently the site has ignored my
E mail and as yet Alan Rogers who administer this scheme have also ignored me. So not only have I concluded that this site should be avoided like the plaque, it does leave me in doubts whether I should use 'Camping Cheques' again and perhaps use the ACSI scheme as an alternative. The only redeeming feature of this site, is its proximity to Calais, but the location is not that desirable, given that it overlooks a semi industrial outlook and also there is a water treatment works next door. There are plenty of alternative sites nearby and we eventually moved up the road to Equihan Plage which was a delight. The moral of this story is always to check reviews before you go to a site and/or check the facilities before you pay.
