Very convenient for Avignon which is only a short walk over the bridge. Site is basic, shaded by lots of trees and there are no views but is more than adequate for a short visit to the city. It was also very busy so an early arrival is recommended. Staff very helpful and relocated us when our first pitch proved unsuitable. Sanitary block is showing it's age but was clean and there was plenty of hot water and toilet paper (from a central in a dispenser outside of the individual loos). Small shop which sold basics and a bar which we didn't use as it was being used to serve a meal to a group of youngsters staying at the hostel which is part of the site). We had an excellent meal at the restaurant at the entrance to the site which does have lovely views of the river and the famous bridge from it's terrace.

On arrival I politely asked the young woman at reception if she spoke English and she replied that she did. Maybe she was having a bad day, but her abrupt manner was very off putting.
I asked how much it cost to use the washing machine. Her reply was 'I don't know, but you need coins'. I then asked if I did not have enough change, would she be able to change a note - her response was 'no, I don't give change, if you want change you go to the supermarket' which was shut!
I agree with the other comments about the toilets which were in need of refurbishing e. G. Cracked sinks etc but were also smelly throughout. There is no soap or toilet paper provided.
Electricity is 6 amp - so enough for our needs.
WIFI was reasonable at 1. 50 euros for a day.
It is open all year round which presumably is why people choose to come here (there are a couple of other campsites on the island).
We arrived in the rain as did quite a few others from different countries - all with good quality motorhomes and campervans, so it reasonable to expect good service and clean and tidy facilities.
The campsite has an off season ACSI discount.
As we were only staying a night, we tolerated the place, but we won't be back.

On arrival given pitch n/o first impression it looked like a world war two transit site. When pitched asked reception for water points told use the motorhome service point which I found in trees, it was very dirty messy then I found fresh water pipe / hose this was on the floor in a lot of foul water and dirt (I did not use this pipe) found tap other side of camp.
The facilities clean but outdated needs complete upgrade, notice on door states hot water/heating from 6am to 13. 30hrs then 6pm to 10. 30 pm I tried to have shower at 7. 45pm no hot water, I complained to reception lady looked but not interested next morning hot water but this went off around 10. 30am. Now I understand why so many motorhomes left after one night. Only thing going for this site was the site very close to avignon

We stayed here 3 years ago overnight, so decided to stop for 2 nights on our return journey home this year. Wednesday and Thursday night in mid September, the site wasn’t overly busy, and it was quiet at night. Nothing has changed really, facilities are tired but very clean and the pitches are allocated rather than chosen, but are a decent size. We tried the takeaway which was a little expensive at 13. 50 euros for a pizza & frites, but then it is there for convenience. The shop sells quite a decent range of groceries, chilled food and wine. The wine they sell is very good, no tat here. There is an easy walk across the bridge into Avignon itself which is well worth it, and don’t miss the pleasant path alongside the river next to the campsite. Great in the early evening sunshine and for photies! The welcome from reception was actually one of the friendliest we had in France, with plenty of information available. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

The other review is pretty spot on. The pitches do vary in size and flatness but generally are OK. Because of the high throughput of this site, you are allocated, rather than choose your pitch.
There is an area which has some long stay motorhome/converted buses/tarpaulin shacks with attendant dogs (sites 159-161, 178-184).
Sites 206-236 are reserved for youth groups that arrive by coach for overnight camping. Elsewhere on the site, is fine!
Walking around the island and taking the free ferry is great.

Of the three campsites on the island in the Rhone at Avignon, this is the closest to the historic centre, which is about 7 minutes away on foot, over the Edouard Daladier bridge. There are lovely views of the Palace of the Popes and the Pont d’Avignon from the terrace of the site’s restaurant.
It’s a medium-sized site with level pitches of sand/gravel, heavily shaded by tall plane trees. Pitches vary in size, some being quite large, and although there are some hedges most pitches aren’t clearly separated.
There is one large central sanitary block which is clean but very dated. However there is plenty of hot water, showers are fully controllable, loos have no seats but paper from a central dispenser. There are only four washing-up sinks which got a bit crowded at times. There are no water taps anywhere on the site so water has to be obtained from the washing-up sinks which is a bit awkward.
There is a useful shop which even sells English newspapers, and fresh bread is available in the morning. There’s a bar and restaurant, which we didn’t use, but the prices looked reasonable – the set meal was 9.90 euros.
There are a very small number of permanent caravans but most people only use the site for a short stay so there are a lot of comings and goings. There is some road noise from the bridge. However we found it a pleasant and convenient site as a base to see the sights of Avignon.
