Message from site owner:
We are very sorry to say we will be closed this year but open again in 2025, due to scheduled works going on in the village which will cause a disruption. We look forward to seeing old and new faces in 2025
If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Charming little site. Facilities rustic but decent; some people might prefer their toilets + showers not to be portaloo-type but it's all clean (the site is kept immaculate by the lovely owners) and the shower is far better than you might expect (although REALLY hot at times!)
Plus point : fire pits available, and logs sold at £3 a tub; not enough camp sites allow fires
Down side : the local really ain't much. Pity; it looks promising as you pass it on the way to the site. It's up for grabs though, so fingers crossed a new owner can make something more of it

We have just returned from 3 nights camping at Willow Stream while visiting family who live nearby and we had a wonderful time.
The site is in a stunning location and while the facilities are basic, the friendliness of the owner and the other campers made our visit really enjoyable.
We were there with 2 of our teenagers and a young dog and all of us found plenty to do and enjoyed the scenery, the chance to unwind and relax without distractions. As one previous reviewer stated, the more natural sites seem to attract nicer campers and not the noisy, chavvy element that can really spoil a camping trip. There are plenty of fire pits to borrow and wood to buy which is both cheap and plentiful, there is a handy box of maps and info sheets under the dish-washing sink. There are good local shops in nearby Dunster, good pubs plus several good supermarkets in Minehead, a 10 minute drive.
It would be sensible to take a decent torch and common sense would suggest pitching away from the loos but during our visit there was no problem with smells or anything. We did find it sensible to park slightly further back from the stream as were worried about the car sinking as the ground was quite soft following rain but this was not a problem at all- a lovely site and we will return.

This campsite is a real find – small, quiet and basic – but just what we were looking for. It’s nestled in a small valley with a lovely stream running the length of the field. There are horses in the fields adjacent and buzzards flying above.
The owners came over to greet us on arrival and explained that they had only recently opened the campsite and were leaning/improving as they go. They were extremely chatty and really made us feel welcome.
The facilities are rustic but that is perfect if you want to get back to nature and avoid the crowds.
As others have said, at the moment the toilets and showers are plastic portaloos – this was clearly explained on the website and as such it didn’t come as a surprise to us. There are two toilets and a shower situated at one end of the field and, for the weekend, a third toilet was brought in and positioned at the top of the field.
As expected from portaloos there was a slight smell (nothing too overwhelming – nowhere near as bad as some festivals we’ve been too!) but given the size of the field it was easy to pitch your tent away from the toilets and therefore avoid this. We noticed that a few people had pitched their tents between the toilets and the bins when there was lots of room further down the field away from this area. This would probably explain the experience they had.
Timberscombe has a small post office and a pub, and near by Dunster has lots of facilities and activities. The campsite is perfectly positioned for walks, with routes directly from the field and Exmoor right on your doorstep.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this secret little gem and will most definitely be coming back – roll on September!

This is a back to nature camp site, perfect for getting away from it all and thankfully devoid of the sort of 'chavvy' presence often experienced elsewhere. The 'no music' rule is a winner!
Stunning scenery, plenty of space, camp fires to your heart's content and a ready-made fridge in the form of the crystal clear stream running the length of the site make it stand out.
For our stay:
Facilities were as billed (hence the lower rating, but if you're expecting a club house, playground and evening entertainment you haven't read the site details properly!): currently portable loos / portable shower but water was always hot, plus they were clean and maintained. I gather these are due to be made more permanent soon.
The owners were very helpful and chatty.
Of course being in such a rural location brings noise at night (owls, sheep, horses, babbling stream etc. ) and if you can't live with a few flies then think again.
Loads to do on the doorstep and a welcoming local pub which really is 2 minutes walk. We didn't eat there but the menu looked good. We did eat in the next village, Dunster, where there was plenty of choice.
If the site was at full capacity then the facilities would be stretched a bit, so as long as they're scaled up then this place will remain a little gem in the hills.

This site is beautiful.
It has a good stream running through it and the kids had fun paddling. We could pitch where we liked on a reasonable amount of flat space but the rest is a little sloping. Nestled between the trees in a little valley the scenery was fab and peaceful.
Getting onto the site down the sloping entrance was ok but this could be an issue getting out when wet as it is steep but has gravel on.
The Owner met us fairly shortly during pitching and was helpful asking if we had seen BBQ and metal fire pits provided for general use for a camp-fire if we wished- (logs at £3. 50 per trug full) and the loos and shower set-up yet. We said no and he explained about the use of portaloos and portable gas shower.
I said I didn't object to portaloos but voiced my concern regarding cleanliness and he assured me they were cleaned daily.
There is a good sink/drainer with running water and tap available for use for water containers.
There are waste bins for recycling and a fire & first aid box available.
He did advise us that only open since June 12 and to bear with them.
We pitched on a mild day with little wind and things were good but once the weather warmed or the wind blew, the stench from the portaloos that were hidden behind the trees 15 ft away was dreadful.
They were cleaned daily and you could sit on the seats but there was no closure over the 'hole' where your poop goes so the smell was vile within the cabins. One had a chute the other was totally open and you got splash-back when using it!
The washing up facility was VERY near to the loos so to wash up was disgusting as the smell was overwhelming at times making us retch.
We spoke with other campers who told us the loos had not been emptied at all for the duration of their stay which was a week so far.
I did mention the smell to the owner the next day and he just said it was the flue/vent from the loos!
We did use the shower which was lovely and clean with plenty of hot, on demand water- excellent.
We are NOT newbies to camping and chose this site for the very basics but the loos need addressing.
-With a different type of the portaloos (which there are better ones) we would still choose to return in the future.
Lower rating purely because of the loos- sorry.
