A municipal site which charged €17. 30pn including taxes. We parked in the car park as instructed on their website, waited for the reception to open and was given a map to walk around the site and select a pitch.

This is a large site but as it was near the end of the season and only 1 facility block was open we chose a pitch close by. We used their washer and dryer facilities too, €7. 20 tokens.

The staff on reception spoke English, gave us a map for the village with nearest bread shop which took about 15 min up hill.

The town was about 20min walk along a very safe path via the spa centre and we enjoyed a pleasant day round the lake and looking in the shops.

Talking to other campers there are lots of walks/cycle routes in the area. At the top of the site they are building a new aire for motorhomes which they hope to have open for when the camp closes for winter.

Access will not be via the campsite but along another road, presumably signposted. It will be fenced, hardstanding, will have security barrier entry with some kind of payment, fresh water, drive over grey waste and elsan. Also wifi but no toilets.

 Clean, spacious well laid out.

The opening and closing times of the office need to be checked. I got there at 3:30, (office afternoon opening time) to find it didn't open till 5:30 and you cant get onto the site. No explanation offered as to why the opening time was changed.

I chose a pitch only to be told that it was hard standing for motorhomes and suggested I moved to an all grass pitch. This struck me as odd as the site was empty save for six other campers.

A number of toilets were out of action and taped up, odd as they had just opened for the season.

Only stopped for one night but will definitely use as a stopover site again. Allowed to walk around and choose your own pitch, which were all of a good size. Good English spoken at reception. Separate male and female showers and toilets which were always clean with toilet seats, paper and soap.

Beautiful town 5 minutes walk away with a few decent restaurants

This was suggested to us by the warden of the municipal site at Argentan where we were turned away as it was waterlogged (booking unconfirmed). Gave them a call (helpful receptionist spoke good English) to check they had a pitch and stayed one night enroute further south. Hedged pitches are on grass with the steep curbs that are often on French sites but being a corner pitch we could drive on so that the caravan wheels were on before using the mover to put it into place. Very good toilet block - heated, modern and very clean. The weather was wet and overcast else we may have stayed another night to look around but we would definitely use the site again.

Spent 7 nights at this site and can recommend. Very clean facilities and staff pleasant and helpful.

Bread available each morning - just order day before. Bagnoles is a pretty town with good places to eat and a lovely open air pool. No supermarket in town itself but one on outskirts and a bigger one on way to nearby La Ferté Macé - which is a lovely town worth visiting in itself.

Great area to cycle in - lots of very quiet roads and a helpful booklet giving details of variously graded local routes to follow is available free from tourist office in town.

Stayed for 2 nights whilst touring Normandy, the site had just opened for the season so was in the process of opening everything up. That said the staff were friendly and as helpful and one would wish. The site was quiet, very clean and well laid out. The is a very good selection of pitches which you are encouraged to wander around and pick for yourself.

The toilet blocks are excellent very clean and with plenty of toilets and showers.

There is free wifi which is of a very high quality with connection speeds that would rival most home wifi.

There is a free bus into the town which leaves from the gate, the town is also accessible via a short walk through a park.

The local town is really well worth a visit, with a number of bars restaurants and good quality bakers and other shops.

Overall an excellent site which was well worth the money it cost which at 16euros a night was a lot less than other sites with less facilities visited on this trip.

Would not hesitate to recommend a visit here, I will definitely return

We stayed here for two nights on our way home from the Vendee, and were very impressed. The site was well managed and the receptionist very efficient. We were able to select our pitch before booking. Areas set aside for Motor homes or Caravans and all the pitches had hedges and a shady tree. It was a very clean site, perhaps lacking in character, but as I say we only had two nights. The showers were very clean and the toilets had toilet paper! Strange that the cleaners were cleaning the gents at 8:30 in the morning and had locked the toilets so the ladies had to be used. On site is a snack bar which opens at 8:30 for fresh bread and a selection of meals are available in the evening. If you want one of the specials it needs to be ordered the day before, the chef was very French and quite a character. We used the free bus to go into town which is just 15 minutes walk away. We had planned on spending just a few hours in the town but stayed all day it was so beautiful and interesting. Lots of nice shops and places to eat.

As the previous reviewer says, this is a lovely, spacious and extremely clean site. It is large but, even in August when there were a lot of familiies around, was quiet and peaceful. The reception staff are extremely helpful. We didn't use the cafe but were pleased to be able to buy fresh bread every morning. The pitches are of a good size and there were plentiful toilets and showers, even at busy times.

There is a small supermarket near the site and a good size large one on the outskirts of town, only 5 minutes drive from the site. Bagnoles de l'Orne is a charming town, with the centre a pleasant 15 minutes walk through a wooded valley past the Thermal Spa complex (and a free bus is available). Bagnoles has quite a 'gentrified' air, with splendid fin de siècle houses and a glorious art deco church. The centre is home to excellent cafés, a large park, a lake and an art deco casino.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit.

An excellent site. Toilet facilities are modern & clean. Pitches hedged & a reasonable size. The site has wonderful food from the 'snacks'. 7 euros for Moules & frites, 7 euros for a HUGE portion of mutton stew & frites. Wifi is FREE! The town is lovely, a Spa town with interesting architecture. The town Hall is a chateau in beautiful gardens. It is about 1km very easy walk to the town. In town there are many cafes, restaurants & gift shops, plus a Casino positioned by the lake. And, of course, on the way in to town are the Spa Treatment Buildings. There is a FREE bus right outside the campsite which goes to town if you don't want to walk. The best cake shop ever is by Eglise De St Madeline - worth the 10 min walk (or short bus ride) uphill from the site! The campers (in June) were all middle aged or quite elderly & the site was very quiet at night. I probably wouldn't recommend it to families but if it's tranquillity you are after, this is for you. We booked for 5 nights & stayed for 10. Perfect!
