My friend and I were backpacking along the Pennine Way and camped at this location. The owner was welcoming and showed us around. We were the only ones camping so we had our choice of spots to pitch the tent. The facilities were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Pubs and other places to eat were a quick walk down the road. In the morning we paid a very reasonable price for a full English and we left with no want for more.

This site has a marvellous view. It is only 15 minutes from the end of the M65 and a good base for touring the West Riding and the Southern Yorkshire Dales. It has recently opened and no doubt the grass (no hardstandings) will improve with constant mowing. Nevertheless I had no difficult getting on to and off the start despite the rain before and after I arrived. It is largely flat and with a bit of manoeuvring you can find a level spot.

It lies at the centre of a network of footpaths. So dog walking from the site is easy. The site owner operates a boarding kennels. In the day you can hear the dogs but I was not troubled and at night it was silent. The power supply allows sufficient current for normal use (including an electric kettle). I would certainly go back.
