Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.

We were looking for a site near the seaside in this area, and this one gives ACSI discount so we thought we'd try it.

It is situated almost on the coast road leading to Cayeux sur Mer, which is not a main route, so for mainly local traffic.

This bit of coast road is not by the sea, there is a long stretch of sand dunes and shingle across which you can access the sea on foot, and the sea is hidden from view.

The area here is mainly flat and low lying, and the campsite is flat too. Across the road from the site they have a motorhome aire, where you pay at the reception. As far as I could tell, you would be able to access the campsite toilets and showers, but not the pool, you need a wristband for this, and the pool closes at tea time.

This is a large site with lots of mobile homes. The pitches are mainly flat and grassy, and there are some trees for shade. The receptionist was very efficient and spoke some English. We were allocated a pitch and given a black bag for our rubbish, which was exchanged in the morning. The pitch we were given was quite a way from any facilities, we used our bikes a lot to get about as did other people. There was a nearby water tap which was useful as it was a long way to take washing up.

The sanitary blocks were interesting, laid out as clusters of beach huts with just a few cubicles in each, and plenty to choose from. They were nice and clean and the water was hot.

The pool looked nice but we didn't use it. There's a playground for small children nearby.

From the site we cycled along the coast road. Ten minutes one way led to Cayeux, a lovely little seaside town with shops including a small supermarket. The sea comes up to the town, and the beach area is being remodelled, maybe for sea defences. The middle section appears complete, work continues at the south and north ends. The beach is sandy here, and is said to be unsuitable for bathing, though people were paddling. The tide goes out quite a way, and people were walking out across the sands. Along the top of the beach is a row of beach huts.

Cycling the opposite direction along the coast you pick up a tarmac track which follows the coast behind the sand dunes until you reach the sea, then follows along to a headland, and thence to a beauty spot with a motorhome park, a couple of cafes, and apparently a foot ferry that will take you around the Somme estuary. We didn't see the ferry, nor understand the timetable.

Along from our campsite is another listed in the ACSI book, that one says it's in a pine forest, and indeed it is, we cycled for a look, in a very quiet neighbourhood.

As the weather was very good, we stayed for several nights and enjoyed the area very much. We would be happy to use this campsite again.
