This was a good find. Access to the site is good from the A66. The road is narrow in places but not a problem and the site entrance is a little narrow but a good slow swing in from a fairly quiet road presents no problems we are an 8m long twin axle caravan and got in OK. The pitches are hardstanding with EHU with grass in between, and a good size. Facilities are on the level and easy to access along a little path. At the end of the path is a small cabin with three steps up - in here is a lavatory and pot wash (which is a nice touch). The views from the pitch are wonderful with clear and open skies and the sheep and cattle in the fields surrounding the site. The site is ideally located for exploring the Pennines and the Lake District is not far away. One trip to make along the minor roads is to Hartside point where the view is outstanding - shame about the cafe there, but plenty of little villages to stop in for lunch and afternoon tea. This place does not have a dedicated dog walk so the road is the main exercise area, which for most of the time is quiet but caution is needed. Penrith is 12 miles away for the major supermarkets and stores but Appleby is just down the road with bakers, butchers etc and worth a visit. We highly recommend the site.
