 LOCATION
This campsite is situated a couple of miles outside of Karpacz (a few minutes drive), in the Karkonosze mountain range close to the Poland/Czech border. It is an important area for mountain hiking and in winter skiing.
The site is just outside the village of Miłków, next to a river. At night the site was very quiet, with very little noise after 10. 30pm (with the exception of Saturday night, when a large private party was held by the reception/bar/restaurant area) - but this was finished by 11. 30pm.
The site itself is fairly small, we had contacted the site in advance to reserve space for three tents, but when we arrived at the site it was clear people pitch their tents/park their caravans where ever they like. Electrical hook ups are available for those who would like them at a small additional cost, and there was a place to dispose of chemical toilets. Most of the people on site are Polish.
FACILITIES
On site there is a large concrete unheated outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by a large grassy area where you can sit. You pay 10zl (approximately £2) to get a band which allows you to use the pool, this money is refunded when you return the bands at the end of your stay.
The site is quite attractive, and well looked after. There is a small bar & restaurant on site which looked good, although we didn't use it, but no shop.
There are separate male/female washing facilities. The showers & toilets were cleaned regularly. Hot water in the showers is available up to 10. 30am and from 5. 30pm, however the water was at best only lukewarm. The showers & toilets are fairly basic, but adequate.
There is also a washing machine & drier available for use, which cost 20zl to use (approximately £4). However after putting our clothes through the drier twice, they still weren't totally dry.
There is also a small kitchen, with only one sink to do washing up in, which often meant there was a often a queue.
There is also free WIFI available near the reception, although the internet connection was a bit hit & miss.
On their website they mention a small children's playground, but in reality it was pathetic, with a broken swing, & see saw, tiny sand pit & just a few plastic toys. There is however a football pitch next to the site, which our children enjoyed.
SHOPS
Within a couple of minutes drive you are in Karpacz, the main tourist centre for this area, which has several large shops, including a Tesco's, which is where we did our shopping.
LOCAL AREA
The main attraction of this area in the summer is walking, and there are plenty of walks to be done within a short drive from the camp site. The footpaths up the mountains are very clearly marked, and easy to follow, although the area can get very busy with visitors.
VALUE FOR MONEY
Whilst by Polish standards this may be considered a slightly expensive site, by British standards it was very cheap. We paid approximately £13 a night for our pitch, including two adults and three children (aged 8, 6 & 4).
RECOMMENDATION
This isn't a site for people who want lots of entertainment (there is none), or who would like to spend all day sitting by their tents, but it is a good site for those who want to explore this interesting & attractive corner of Poland. If I was to return to Karpacz, I would certainly consider using this site again.
