Lovely field on working farm, about 5 EHUs. No toilet block, fresh water, excellent chemical waste, recycling bins and gated entrance.
Remote feel despite being within a mile of M11, train line and 5 miles from Stansted airport.
A couple of gorgeous walks direct from site and stunning lanes to cycle to Saffron Walden and Thaxted.
Lovely views to the east, saw deer and hare in nearby field. Good stop for a couple of nights.
Kate is a strong character, friendly and helpful. The narrow access lane to farm is ok.

We have visited this site on many occasions since our first in 2012 and it is where we always make for whenever we are in the area.
In the tradition of this type of site there is an EHU, a drinking water tap and a black water emptying point.
This is a working farm and the five pitch site is situated in the corner of a field in which a crop of hay is normally grown so the owners do restrict the area used by caravans etc to a corner of the large field to minimise damage to the crop area. Within the camping area the owners will usually recommend a place to pitch which dependant upon the numbers of units expected will allow everyone easy access to an electricity outlet and to a nice view.
The site is quite close to Stansted Airport, indeed you can see the control tower over the fields, but the aircraft normally (although this can reverse under certain weather conditions) take-off towards the south-west (Harlow) so take-off noise does not often reach Little Henham and they land coming in on a similar heading from the north-east again without noise affecting the site.
A big plus for us is the feeling of security offered by the electrically operated gate. On arrival you are given a number that will, when keyed in, open the gate to allow vehicular access. Each camping unit gets its own unique number so if a past camper passes on his/her number it will no longer operate the gate.
Site access is not the easiest but that should not deter anyone as this site is well worth the effort. The route recommended by the owner takes you through the village of Elsenham, and is easy peasy till the last mile when you drive up a single track road to the farm. My caravan/car outfit is 41ft long and I have no worries, despite meeting oncoming traffic on a few occasions, on one of those occasions it was easier for me to back up and allow the other vehicle to pass and on the others the oncoming vehicle did the reversing honours. Since retiring in 2011 my wife and I have stayed on over 200 sites all over Europe from North Cape, Norway in the north to Sagres, Portugal in the South and this site come nowhere near the top of our difficult access list.
As well as lots of interesting places to visit there are several superb pubs in the area (including that owned and run by Jamie Olivers parents), for the young and active, the excellent Fleur de Lys Village Pub is a 20 minute walk through the woods away, for those of us less active a short car drive will take you there.

Great site, our third stay in 2 years. This time staying for 4 weeks. Very quiet site, access is quite narrow but you rarely see any other traffic on the roads. Best time to arrive is from 1pm onwards then you have no chance of meeting any caravan leaving in the morning. Quite often we are the only ones here. Owners very friendly and helpful, even looked after our dog when we had to go out for a full day on business. The flight path to Stanstead is around 5 miles away and you hear very little noise, the planes usually stop around 10pm and start around 6am the next morning. Very fast 4G new work available and a good TV signal. There are loads of nice walks in the area, a very good pub just through the woods in Widdington where dogs are welcome. Henham is a nice village to walk to with a shop run by volunteers. Site very reasonably priced too at just £15 a night including electric. Campers will need own toilet though, given facilities 5* as there is everything you need here for caravanners: water point, and chemical disposal point.

Lovely spot which was completely ruined by totally patronising owner acting like none of us have ever been camping before. The site is on an idyllic slant with great views but they wont let you use much of the site, preferring everyone to park in the entrance rather than where you choose. No logic for this it appeared and she wasn't having it any other way. Quite specific where you and your visitors park even though the site was empty. The electricity supply cupboard (there is only one with about 2 or 3 points inside, but no access apart from a gap at the back on the floor which means crawling around in between bins. Nice to see a recycling point though. It is also a gated site with keypad that is very temperamental and heaven forbid you need help from Ms Patronising she'll never let it drop!
Right on the flightpath out of Stanstead with flight running late into the night. One was a heavy transport plane at 11:30pm which just about seemed to make take off and as it droned overhead it felt like the whole earth was shaking, I could imagine ornaments falling off the mantlepieces in the area and it took ages for the darn thing to disappear. Think I can still hear it now!
Access to the farm is terrible, two very narrow lanes in which you pray nothing comes the other way. Both had low narrow bridges, 10ft and 12ft. There is a third way without bridges but no satnav would use it and its crisscrossing the countryside.
The farmer decided to cut some hedges in the lane with an antique tractor mower, or rather I should say butcher, which left 4inch thorns and other debris scattered all over the road and the verges untouched. The noise of bits flying everywhere could be heard all over the place, sounded like real carnage and he gave up after about 30mins. Then promptly parked the tractor blocking the entrance to the site, imagine if we'd done that!
Bright and early Sunday morning he was in the yard messing around with a chainsaw or some other noisy trimmer though not actually trimming anything!
The locale is lovely with plenty of walks, though lots of signs saying don't do this, don't do that or the other which spoiled it. Makes you wonder what these people get up to in the woods around here. The owls are to die for at night, at least three species heard and one really quite a strange booming sound which I'd never heard before. Noisy muntjac but hey ho.
So the killer is the owner and the planes. I really pity the local villages having to put up with Stanstead as the racket and pollution from the planes has completely killed the tranquility and they are quite rightly up in arms over it.
Would I go back? Nah not with these owners, most inconsiderate. Whatever happened to *be nice to the customers*. The access is very difficult too.
