We booked this site for 2 weeks to use as a base to explore the area.
The site is fine although if booking I would recommend paying the extra to have a fully serviced pitch with private shower and toilet facility. The toilets and showers for general use were ok but not many of them. That said we didn't have to wait at any time for either.
During our stay we were the only English people on the site and any entertainment was geared to the French and Dutch campers. Whilst there the Tour de France passed on the road outside the site and that was a first for us. The swimming pool does the job although several of the sunbeds were broken. The pool looked as though it needed some decoration as most paintwork was faded but this did not detract from our time there. There are 2 lakes with beaches for swimming and pedalos etc: We found that the Plage de Doucier was the best and less busy than the other more commercial location Chateau de Challain(I think that's the name. There is a small supermarket just up the rod but for serious shopping go to Champignole (big Leclerc) or Lons le Saunier (Super U). Massive market at Lons le Saunier well worth a visit and some nice restaurants. Now the kids are off hand we try to avoid the 4 or 5 star sites as we end up paying a premium for facilities we don't use. This 3 star site for 2 of us with Elec cost just 320 euros for the fortnight. Bread ordered the day before worked fine. Very nice pitches with shade and hedging to give some privacy.

We stayed at Les Merilles. It is a smallish, family run campsite. We thought it was very cheap compared to where we have stayed before ( school holidays)We were the only British folks there, until an older couple with a caravan arrived mid week. I mention this as some people like /dislike being with other Brits There was a pool which we sat around ones or twice My daughter went in I did not we preferred instead to spent our time lazing round the lakes a very short car ride away, They also provided a free bus service. Again we did not use it. The toilet block had no seat, toilet paper or soap. This may make it a no no? We had two pitches one week on a standard pitch and the second with our own toilet and shower and share kitchen sink. The owners are friendly, but speak very little English. This initially caused some confusion when we arrived s they thought we had not booked despite confirmation emails and we did not get the fridge that we thought we had booked, but then no one on the site seemed to get one either.
we had electric hook up and this was fine. They did guided walks and low key entertainment in the evening. Can walk 5-10 mins to village which holds a night market in Summer months with food and drink available.
We visited Switzerland and flew in the local Micro light aircraft that buzz's over that area, and generally enjoyed a quiet time. We usually go to the Dordogne, it is a far less developed area, but we were glad we visited.
you could visit the Herrison falls very close to the campsite, or follow the lake drive.
