Please note we have been advised that this site has closed, and now only offers basic camping for youth organisations, arranged ahead of time with the forester in charge. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

This campsite is suitable for families, couples or other parties, an all rounder really. There is a games room. Kiddie play area, hot showers, toilet block, washing, chemical waste and laundry facilities and also a bbq area. Nearby there is Gortin Glen forest which boasts beautiful scenic walks, a wild bird area and also a deer enclosure, Close by is Omagh which is only a ten minute drive away. My husband and I frequent this site several times during the year along with several other friends. Campfires are permitted providing that all mess is cleared away and no trees or surrounding areas is damaged. Very quiet location and everyone that uses it respects privacy and noise levels later on at night. The warden is very friendly and had became a good friend to us.

What an amazing find! This site is tucked away some 6 miles north of Omagh literally in the forest. It was completely empty when we arrived and to be honest it was probably shut, but one toilet and one shower were open (though lights were off). The setting is idyllic and the facilities good, clean and modern, but be aware that many such as the games room will be locked in off season. Similarly, we had no hook up. We tried to phone the Warden but with no phone signal we simply stayed the night - using it as a parking space. We loved it. Beautiful forest walks, a stream running past, Gortin 3 miles north has a good range of convenience stores and the Sperrin Mountains and their scenic drives begin from here. Omagh to the south has plenty of the shops, garages etc you may need. Don't expect the lap of luxury here - its perfect for those who want a more wilderness type camping. In a large RV like ours the turns into the minor road and the site itself were pretty tough, but we made it with a car in tow so most people should be able to. Just keep an eye out for the two left hand turns from the Gortin road, which give hardly any notice! We would certainly return and LOVED this site off season.
