 A excellent place to stay as long as you have a car or bike as the walk into Dolores is quite far but you can cut across the field's,
Jill the owner is a lovely lady and very helpful and friendly,
The pitches are a good size with a lovely pool area,
Small site only 9 pitches,
Would stay here again if hadn't bought a property only 15minutes away.
Not too far from the coast.

Having known jill for many years and had the pleasure of working ,she puts the heart and soul into everything she does. 10 out of 10 isn't enough.

My family have been to this site 5years on the trot
I just wish no one else knew about it
Be nice to keep it to our self ha ha
It’s a small Friendly well kept site situated in the country side
No discos no bright lights just a very relaxed atmosphere
Can’t wait to get back in 2018

We stayed at Sheppards rest early July this year. We had an excellent stay. The owner is really friendly and helpful. The facilities are well looked after and spotless. The pitches are spacious with electric, water and drainage. The location is ideal for exploring the local surroundings. A visit to Santa Palo to see the Flamingos in the salt lakes is a must.

This was the second time we visited this campsite, in fact the first time was in June this year when having not caravaned for twenty years we chose this site because the reviews showed it would be a friendly place and we thought we might need some helpful advice which we got from the owner and others on the site. Both times we enjoyed it so much that we were lucky to be able to extend our stay. We are able to take our two small dogs with us who enjoy the experience as much as us. The surrounding area is very nice, with plenty of places to visit including some lovely beaches and English is spoken in many places. We have now put our van into storage at Shepherds Rest and have booked for March and I know that we will return again as it is a place to really chill out.

I stayed on this site for four weeks its a small site but the pitches are large, showers & toilets are clean and serviced every day, its a very quiet secure and private site where you can come and go as you please and is dog friendly. The town of Dolores has a good range of shops which are about15 minutes walk.
If I ever return to that part of Spain again I would certainly return to Shephard's rest
Gill Shephard is a great hostess.

We have been visiting Sheppards Rest for the last 7 years after finding this jem of a site by chance. It has become a second home to us and our two dogs. The owner of the site makes every effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible. It's nice to get away from commercial run sites, and to relax in the piece and quiet of the Spanish countryside 'The real Spain'.
The nearby town of Dolores is only 5 mins away and has all that you would need including its local market on Fridays.
The site has a large swimming pool and the site has goats, chickens, cats and dogs. We are surrounded by open farm land with a view of mountains and the sun sets are absolutely breathtaking. There are no bars, loud music or loud speakers urging you to join this or that activity. Just relax and enjoy yourselves is the motto of this 'secret' site.

We have stored our caravan here now for over a year and have returned to stay in it 4 times for approx a month at a time. We can only say we have never been to a site before where the owner works so hard to make sure you have everything to make your stay as perfect as it can be, nothing is too much trouble for her.
The toilets and showers are kept very clean and the pool is absolutely delightful. We have met some lovely people on site and more than once enjoyed the mouth watering Paella made by the owner. The peace and quiet of the surrounding area make it ideal for relaxing but a short car or bike ride takes you to the shops and beaches.
Our daughter and 2 grandsons aged 5 and 9 stayed in the caravan with us this August and their verdict is the site, the owner and her son are brilliant. We visited Alicante Castle the Caves at Busot, Watwerfalls near Polop, Terra Mitica and much much more all within an hours drive.

This site is so special I would have liked to have kept it a secret. But that would not be fair to you all or for Jill, the special owner of this excellent site.
Because if you are looking for a small and friendly site with large pitches, clean, quiet, and brilliant facilities, with the added luxury of large swimming pool, we found it at sheppards rest
We go every year for two months a year,
The town of Dolores is only 5 minutes away with special charm of shops market days cafes bars and even english food.
Then on to the beach 15minutes from site its a wonderful safe sandy quiet beach you can walk along the beach for a mile or so if you want to stretch your legs.
There is so much to see in and around the area and the sunsets are unforgettable
Go for it you will not regret it, but please leave room for us

Nice peaceful site water electric and waste on every pitch 80 to 120 sq metres site
Facilities nice and clean, 2 toilets 3 showers, nice swimming pool,
20 mins walk to the town of dolores, plenty of bars and shops 2 supermakets,
2 more towns 10 mins drive catral & almarade with more bars and shops and more supermarkets,
15 mins drive to the beach which is nice and clean and goes on for miles,
Nice friendly host will help in anything she can.
