If you want to wake up in the morning to magnificent views amongst the Welsh countryside then this is the place to do it. It was quite hard for a couple of ex pats from Australia to find but we made it to be greeted on the drive by the owners, their dogs and children, just wonderfully alive people running a farm. The facilities were adequate, not five star but OK for us campers. Will we go back on our next holiday from Australia, of course we will?

Me and my husband brought our two young boys and young niece to this site at the weekend. Although tricky to find as it is not sign posted from the main road, this site is a gem! The ground is slightly sloping but we were able to put our caravan on it comfortably, it is a basic site with one toilet and a separate shower both of which do their job - the shower is powerful with lovely free hot water. The kids were very pleased with the field full of cows and tiny calves right next to our caravan! The site is easily accessible to Ruthin and Mold and the Horseshoe pass, and offered some of the most spectacular views from our pitch of moel fameu and the gorgeous surrounding countryside. The family who live and work on the farm and site are so lovely! Chatty and very friendly and happy to help. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this site, the logs which can be bought on site and fire burners available to use, are a lovely touch - the kids loved to toast marshmallows after dinner. We will definitely be returning to this site.

We stayed at this campsite the other weekend and it was just what we were looking for! We had a bit of trouble finding it - it's located down a few very narrow lanes! But after ringing the owners we got there in the end. The field is not huge but just right for us. You can choose where you want to pitch your tent and we were only charged per person, not based on how many cars/tents that we had.
There is one toilet in a little outbuilding attached to the farmhouse which was clean and dry. There is a shower in a separate little building which is lovely and hot! There was only us on the first night and one couple on the second so we never had to wait for the toilet or shower. We had a BBQ on our second night and also borrowed a metal container for a fire. They sell a big bag of logs for £5 which lasted us the whole night.
The farmer was very friendly and welcoming as were the dogs! Although they barked at the boys in our group! We went into Ruthin on the Saturday which is a lovely town with plenty of cafes and pubs plus a few little shops. We visited the Gaol too which was good. It is about a 10 min drive away. On the Sunday we climbed Moal Famau which is about 25 mins drive away. It's hard work but there are great views from the top!
Overall a great site where we could relax and not worry about too many other people around.
