Pros
Lovely area, great views, hosts very accommodating and friendly. We were a group of 9 friends and Fiona was happy to provide breakfast and evening meals given a little notice.
They opened the bar in the evening and were happy for us to have a musical session.
There are a couple of well signed walks nearby but be careful of paths on maps which no longer exist on the ground.
Cons - more observations really
Access is narrow in places so go carefully if in a touring caravan.
Levelling blocks needed in some spots.
Toilets and showers are clean and sufficient but a little rustic although better than others at similar sites.

This site is situated above the Banwy valley at the end of some narrow twisty lanes so may be a challenge with a big motorhome or caravan.
The field does slope in various directions so levellers really needed. The facilities are pretty comprehensive for a CS and were kept clean. The welcome was friendly and the owners helpful.
If you need to fill on boarding water do so at the the house before pitching
Would recommend.
Great views lots to see and do in the area

This is a lovely well set-up and well cared for C&CC Certificated Location. The gently sloping field has views across to local hills. The best views are from the upper side of the field. (For these views you will need to stay without EHU as the hookups are on the lower side of the field).
The toilets, showers, and dish-washing facilities are modern and kept very clean. There is even plenty of water pressure at the drinking water tap (not common in Mid-Wales in our experience!)
The owners are very welcoming and provided an excellent guide to the site and area, which was emailed when we booked.
The joy of Mid-Wales in August is that the scenery is beautiful, but it is not at all crowded. There are some lovely local walks, particularly the Ann Griffiths walk along the River Vrynwy either side of Dolanog.
It is advisable to follow carefully their directions to access the site, as many local roads are pretty narrow. The approach route as described also needs care in the local approach, particularly if towing.
We look forward to returning here soon.

Lovely spot, lovely people, totally relaxed, very welcoming and as informal as can be without being sloppy.
If you like a quiet spot in the middle of nowhere surrounded by hills, traditional farms, beautiful countryside and an abundance of wild life look no further. The high hills of mid Wales are within an easy drive with loads of walking and spectacular views.
The site itself is relatively small and tucked away - the loos and showers clean and regularly checked - there's hot water for the washing up facilities and fresh drinking water from a separate tap.
The lady who runs it is a great help and obviously enjoys the work, she can provide basics like milk and bread etc. With a bit of notice apparently but we didn't need to use these services.
The weather was superb whilst we were there but I'd recommend it even when it's wet - the ground is high, relative to the surrounding fields and looked as if it would drain well - there is a very gentle slope to the south, just enough to make sleeping 'head uphill' a real pleasure.
AND, very reasonably priced - we'll be back there for sure!

Booked this site for a weekend break. Lovely location and very friendly owners. It really makes a difference when your hosts are also campers (they know what you require for a great break).
We were the only ones on site at the time. Showers and toilets very clean, and they are expanding the facilities. We will definitely stay there again.
Take notice of the directions given ~ this was a huge help as many of the roads in the area are quite narrow.

I recently visited Gwaenynog with my caravan when I was due to go to a family wedding in the vacinity. This proved a perfect site for my family with two caravans and two needing a B and B, plus a dog needing to be kept safe when we were away all of one day(they have kennels too).
We were even able to arrange for a minibus to transport us to and from the wedding. All we needed was a sunny day and the owners even managed to fix that! The owners were so helpful when we arrived, helping us to site one of the vans in a convenient position for a family group.
The toilets were clean and easily accessible from our pitches and the water in the shower and washing up sink was always piping hot. There is loads of space for children and dogs to run around in safety.
Although it seems a long and winding road up to the farmhouse it is actually easy to find thanks to the owners precise instructions and little signs along the way. I would certainly recommend this site and they even provide excellent breakfast for the campers too !

On arrival the owners were on hand and very helpful, as we were the only ones on the site at the time we had the pick of where we wanted to pitch.
The price was £16 with EHU
£12 without.
The site has 3 EHU pitches and it is mainly level.
The views were beautiful and the area was extremely quiet, until we let our 3 dogs loose
The adjacent field through a gate is large enough to let the dogs loose and have a good run around, the boundary fences were well maintained so no chance of the dogs letting rip into surrounding fields of sheep.
There is a toilet block with 2 loo's, these were clean and presentable with a CDP right outside.
There was a shower block but didn't use as our stay was for just 1 night.
At night be sure to take a torch as it is very dark, the resident owl keeps your ears twitching a little.
The following day, we took the dogs for a long walk around the lanes and they are quiet (on a Sunday) we saw 4 cars in 3 1/2 hours.
All in all we had a peaceful time with plenty of walks so will return again sometime in the future.

I camped at Gwaenynog with my dog Max. We thought the campsite was great. Very nice hot shower was much appreciated. A lovely, quiet spot surrounded by rolling green fields.
Particularly quiet at present as the site has only recently opened. Very good base for walking. Very hospitable owners. Will look forward to going back!
