Pleasant site in a great location by the river although we couldn't find access to river from within site. Short walk to town.
Toilet & shower facilities were great & kept clean. Pitch was roomy enough for large tent, van & small tent. Quiet at night.
No shop but town adjacent. Was local produce stalls by reception when we arrived but don't know if that's a regular thing. Secure barrier with fob.
Exit approach is one lane so if you're towing or in a big unit may be best to have someone wave you to the barrier when it's clear.
No pool on site but there is one across the road but seemed to be only open afternoons

Spent two nights here on the way back from the Pyrenees. Very reasonably priced at EUR21/night for 2 adults, 2 children and a huge riverside pitch without electricity. The ground was *very* hard after several weeks without much rain.
Facilities are good though the showers in the smaller blocks were busy at times. Swings, ping pong table, petanque and riding round in circles all pleasing to the kids. Easy access to bars, bakery, cycle trails and old town. Friendly and helpful staff - worth knowing that a key to open the barrier repeatedly is available for a deposit of EUR30.

Excellent in every respect. Pitch, location, facilities, staff
And Chinon is truly remarkable. It alone makes staying here worthwhile.
Recommended without reservation. The pitches are a good size with shade available on most. You pick your own pitch on arrival via an automatic barrier that only admits you. To exit you need to have booked in and be given a token which activates the barrier.
In other words, if you arrive early, and you can turn up at any time, and you need to go out again before the office opens, to shop for food, you cannot exit by vehicle. The toilets are very new and there are more than enough even at the busiest times.
All in all, an excellent experience.

A lovely well looked after site right in the town of Chinon, easy walking distance, next to the river and with a view of the Chateau. Large pitches, shaded and sunny and level. Clean new toilet blocks.
Nice quiet site, very reasonably priced (only 18. 44 euros for a motorhome with electricity, 2 adults in high season, August).
Stayed here for a stopover, but can't wait to return.
Chinon a beautiful classy town with lots of restaurants.
Wifi available around the reception area.

Site in great position, on banks of river and directly across from Chateau. Just 5/10 minutes walk across bridge into Chinon town, very pleasant town restaurants, bars etc.
Site has 2 modern toilet blocks and one older block up steps near reception, we found this older one the best.
Water collection points were a bit vague, we were not the only ones wandering round looking for them.
Informal site placements for caravans and tents but most seemed to have elec points.
Wifi worked fine provided you are near reception.
There are a number of log cabins with canvas sides on site, if you are sensitive to noise best to keep away from them.

We stayed for 10 days, the site was not full, so plenty of pitches. The trees around give a choice of shaded or more open pitches. Some pitches are bigger than others. The ground was very dry during our visit so some pitches had little grass!
There are small toilet blocks around the site as well as the two large blocks opposite reception. Only the newer of the two was open a few days after our arrival. It was very clean, as were the smaller loo blocks, which have a mix of continental and normal loos!
Washing machines/dryers are available -buy tokens at reception.
There is wifi (free) by reception where there are some seats, it did not like our tablet, or smart phone. Other people seemed to have no problem.
There are plenty of shops and bars both on the campsite side and across the bridge in town, which was lively and had a nice atmosphere at night, with lovely views of the floodlit castle from the site. We had some good meals there.
The little bar on the riverside is ok, there was music at the weekends, with a band one night, but noise was not excessive and it stopped at midnight.
We paid €13 a night for two people plus oufit.
There is a super you a short drive (walkable distance) from the site, and a bigger Leclerc on the outskirts of the town (across river from site).
You can get discounted tickets to the pool which is opposite the site (indoor and outdoor pools).
The castle is well worth a visit with stunning views from the walls.
We had great weather during our stay so had a relaxing time, touring the are and enjoyed some good walks in the surrounding area.
The reception staff are very friendly and do speak english. They just told us to choose a pitch and let them know afterwards. They give you a key to the barrier so you can drive in and out.

Stayed here for 4 nights in a tent with hookup as a family of 4 with 2 small children.
The site is large but divided up into smaller areas with mature trees and hedges which give it a more intimate and peaceful feel. There is a good amount of shade for hot weather and toilet blocks are dotted around the site. Clean but not to my taste. If you want hot water or a shower you walk to the modern main shower block near the entrance which also has washing machines (€4. 90) and tumble dryers.
There is a small children's playground along with a small games room and a freezer for your ice packs.
The reason you want to stay here is for the view. Some pitches are placed along the river with a fence between the site and the riverside path. On the other side of the river is the old town topped with a stunning fortress/castle that is beautifully lit up at night. Well worth a visit too.
The Boulangerie is 5 minutes walk from the site and there are bars and restaurants within easy walk including a shack on the riverbank next to the site selling drinks and a limited but delicious menu. Canoeing trips are organised on site. The local swimming pool is on the same road as the campsite.
If you get chance to visit a cave and taste the local Chinon wine we recommend you look up Patrick Lambert, a small wine producer about 5k outside town on the Rue d'Olive. Nice wine and not expensive.
We paid €17 a night for 2 adults, 2 small children and electricity and felt it was good value for that site.
