This is a lovely site, though not without one or two issues. Mainly Dutch teenagers being allowed to drink and wander the campsite all hours of the early morning, presumably whilst their parents sleep peacefully. What did not help on a couple of occasions was the site's foam party which went on until 12.30am despite the site's rule of no music and silence after 11pm there was security but the kids seemed to manage to avoid them. One night they let a very loud firework off very late. The site need to address these issues. HOWEVER the local vino prevented us from being too disturbed by their shenanigans, but if you're tee-total or easily disturbed it could be an issue for you!
The shower block near us, Laine pitch number 8, was good. Modern, clean and plenty of showers. There are still other less modern shower blocks. Toilets were in a kind of portacabin/building and were clean, if a bit smelly due to the chemical toilet emptying being located in there too. These were subject to some minor vandalism overnight on more than one occasion. The showers were locked at 11p. M. Each night.
Wifi was reasonable but only accessible at Reception or around the pool area.
The shop was well stocked, quite pricey but good. BEWARE they put up to 2 euros on a bottle for getting it chilled. Diid not appreciate that at all.
The restaurant was excellent, we ate there 3 times, limited choice but good value. The site pizzeria/deli was excellent, the pizzas were great and they did sandwiches, quiches etc all day long too.
The pool bar was great for a cocktail or glass of vino.
We didn't use the pool ourselves but other members of our party did and enjoyed it. Budgie smugglers are enforced here!
The lifeguarded beach was excellent, be warned though the sea is rough! We had some very rough seas whilst we were there and the waves were massive. It is not called the savage coast for nothing. The lifeguards were kept very busy and were excellent, they guarded the swimming area incredibly well.
Easy walk from our pitch to the beach, Laine. A lot of the pitches are in shade most of the day, others had full sun until late. The pitches around this area are the best for access to the beach, shop, pool, play areas and restaurant etc.
Royan and La Rochelle are within easy reach for a lovely day out. St Palais de Mer is a lovely little town and has a very nice beach, better for young children and has clean loos in the car park. La Palmyre was also very nice, we didn't see the beach there but it is meant to be lovely. Several supermarkets are around the area, including a small Carrefour in La Palmyre, the closest place to the site.
We had a great holiday all in all. We will return to this area, though not necessarily to this site. Would be nice to have somewhere to walk to in the evening and this site is too remote.

Good location next to the beach but pitches vary in size considerably. We asked for a large one at time of booking and requested NO shade. I was assured it was a nice sunny pitch- but it wasn't and we had to sit in shade after 5pm. A lot of pitches were in heavy shade all the time.
This is a Yelloh site but the facilities are not reflected in its 4 * rating and certainly not up to their standards. Our toilet bloke was old and cramped with the toilet bowls being uncomfortably high for my 5 foot height and the door closed onto your knees ! To wash hands, it was necessary to walk to the washing/laundry area a couple of blocks away ! A cold water hand sink was installed as we left with an adjacent ash tray- but no soap dispenser!
Not enough cold water supply taps on site- the one nearest to us had been disconnected and we had to walk to the next block to get water. We had a big problem with our hook up supply which my husband estimated was 70 feet away, and had to cross 2 other pitches, and we had to insist on additional cable from the maintenance man. Surely Yelloh can organise their basic services better than this- we were very disappointed. However, the pizza shop was excellent and stayed open until 10pm. The shop was well stocked and we had a nice meal in the restaurant. Pool was warm and clean but not enough chairs/sunbeds.
La palmyre is lovely and there are excellent cycle tracks so do take your bikes. A visit to the Sunday market is highly recommended.
Overall, potentially a nice site with an excellent location but Yelloh need to upgrade the older toilet/shower facilities or give everyone a discounted price (there were new blocks on the other side of the site) Electrics and water supply also need attention.
