Caravans beware, I have a bailey senator you have to be brave to use this site. It is two miles from main road single track with lots of bends encountering horses tractors and delivery vans and you cant back up when I got there. There was only motor homes, they said did I get through okay as I was lucky. A nightmare going home so beware.

This was a perfect rural site, very quiet with just the birds tweeting. Lovely views but a bit exposed to the wind at times. The new owners (7 months) have plans to improve the site with some hardstandings to make it more accessible in poor weather. The site is pretty level and we did not need ramps in any of the 5 mains supplied caravan/motorhome positions.
The owners are very accommodating but as this is a rural location and there are no facilities other than water and a septic tank disposal point, do not stay if you do not have you own 'toilet' facilities, though you can access the pub toilets during opening times. Whilst we were there the septic tank was cleared so all is good again (see previous review). Not sure what was wrong with the grass as per the previous reviewer, we could walk on it fine and I think we were there at the same time as them. The restaurant is superb; great food, local produce, good choice and a fig cheesecake to kill for. Also good wines but probably overall too expensive for some families if travelling on a budget. Note: The pub (and the next one in the nearest village)is not open on Sunday evenings nor all day Monday and there are no 'local' shops. We loved the place and would certainly stay here again if in the area.
Lastly, word of warning, access to the village is tight and I would not recommend it if you have a very large motorhome or caravan and do not like windy country lanes with passing places.

We had 3 nights at this quiet country site, no traffic to speak of just farm animals so nice to have good R & R. The food in the pub was excellent the varied menu suited all, the staff were very friendly.
It was a shame that the grass had not been cut recently as it made walking difficult and stayed wet all day.
The Elson point was blocked some attempt had been made to rectify this although the E point was not the best design for usage we had seen.
We were informed on arrival that the pub toilets were available to campers to use however this was during pub open times only.
A good time was had by all, and come the warmer weather we will return.

Spent one night here as in the area. My satnav had packed up so had a challenging drive down some of the country lanes!Field was fine although grass hadn't been cut recently and the cdp was covered in leaves but no big deal. I think previous poster is correct in that the new owner is a chef, and not a bad one at that. The food was fantastic and not overpriced. Lovely country pub with log fire, and some good ales. The landlady was concerned that the field might be a bit soggy as they had had so much rain but it was fine. It would be a different place in the summer, apparently you can see the sea in fine weather!. All in all, a little site worth a visit, especially if you fancy venison suet pud!

The last review of this amazing site made me want to visit, and the only criticism that the reviewer had was of the noise of the bird scarer, which when we visited was no longer there!
I am almost reluctant to give a glowing review as it may attract many more customers and take away the feeling of utter peace we had here. However, I must do as this site truly is a hidden 'gem'! The price is amazing for what you get. Water taps and a chemical disposal unit as well as electricity with a field right next door to walk the dogs. Nobody hassles you and when you go into the pub, you are made to feel very welcome. All this still for £9. 50 a night.
The pub itself is lovely with fantastic food which truly is locally sourced, as well as their beers and lagers. I have heard the present landlord and landlady are leaving so I hope these high standards will remain which I am sure they will as the new landlord is a chef. Amazing place to escape to!

Well, this was a little gem of a find. Sitting behind a very nice pub in the middle of nowhere really, is this C&CC CS listed site. How it wasn't full up on a bank holiday is astonishing, particularly considering £9. 50 a night which included electric. There are extensive views as it sits atop the N Downs. The grass was nicely tended, a gate separated the site from the car park. All the electric points are down the right hand side fence which could require some interesting pitching should 5 units ever turn up all wanting hook up. There was no harrying for payment, nobody came out to make sure everything was being adhered to, we were left to our own devices and all the better for it. That said the owner was very pleasant and helpful on the phone. My only gripe, and its not the fault of the site at all, were the incessant bird scarers. 2 fields, 2 booms at a time from each. They started early too, that said, they wouldn't put me off visiting again. It was lovely.
