We have stayed here at Graçey many times over the last few years and watched the site develop with a few little cabins. The facilities are basic but clean.
This is an oasis of peace and tranquillity with a little lake for a short stop. The village is a walk away and has a restaurant/bar pleasant enough but only drank not eaten there.
There’s a municipal swimming pool outside the site and a children’s park area adjacent to site. It’s always been very quiet when we’ve been there normally mid July after uk school break up. We have had children with us no problem as long as they’re supervised.
The pitches are marked out now and have electric nearby.
This is the first time I enquired through uk campsites and didn’t actually receive a reply from the campsite. But we’ve never booked before and always got on. The French gentleman is very friendly and you can pitch wherever you like.
You need to arrive by 8pm as a general rule.

Second time at this campsite. Only a 5 minute drive from A20 but so quiet. Grass pitches but even when wet still firm and easy to drive off.
Level site, each pitch has access to electricity, water and some with grey water drain, useful for caravans.
For motorhomes the grey waste dump and toilet emptying is as you leave in the lane. Easy walk into the interesting town of Gracay. Restaurants and usual shops.
Monsieur does not speak English but understood my attempts at French.
Very useful as stop off on long trip south.
Showers are hot but not heated. Very reasonable price.
Not suitable for young children as open water.
Will definitely return.

What a find. Less than 5 mins from A20 but quiet. Perfectly clean and v cheap. Plots are by a lake. Don't think municipal are not worth visiting. We were one of two caravans shame not more customers for Monsieur. No English spoken but got by. Would certainly use again. Not good for v young children due to lake and river.

We stopped here because we were having car trouble and couldn't go any further, but we will definitely use this site again as a stop over on the way to / from the Dordogne.
It is a very pretty but very cheap municipal site near the town of La Gracay. It has decent enough showers and loos for the price, some in an old barn near the entrance, but some in newer blocks. There is nothing else on site unless you are a fisherman, but right next to the site is a very nice municipal pool. We spent a lot of time at this pool. It has a small cafe serving frites and ice creams.
In La Gracay there are a few shops, but it seemed to us that the older part was largely being abandoned. There are a couple of bars where we waited for our car to be sorted out, and there is a lovely little market. There is also a garage - with the French equivalent of Mr J L B Matekoni, who basically saved our holiday, and probably our lives as well!
As I said, the site is very basic but what made it for me is that it is surrounded by water - there is a big fishing lake and a small river running past where I spent some wonderful moments watching water voles playing at submarines, including a wonderful hour watching a mother and her two babies.
We had a day when our car was waiting for its next work, so we went to Bourges, which is a lovely city to visit.
Be warned though, the lady warden speaks no English at all! Also the lake is unfenced so not a site for young children unless you keep a close watch on them.
