This site is now called Long Meadow Farm and is no longer a Caravan and Camping Club Certificated Site. Easy to find and access just off the A171 on the outskirts of Whitby.
Small level field with 6 pitches on each side. One side has hook up the other doesn't. Pitches are extremely close together. Fresh water and chemical disposal available near entrance. No toilets.
Buses stop at end of road on A171 to Whitby Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay. Some road noise.
Very pleasant owners who live off site also run Whitby Walking Tours which are very informative.
Don't miss the fish n chips at Trenchers restaurant on the quayside.
£20 per night inc EHU.

Lovely site, it’s also a b&b. Facilities basic but clean. Kelly sorted us out at short notice very friendly. Could do with having more signs up so you can see from the road. Will definitely use it again.

We’d booked this site at Easter and whilst travelling were contacted by the owner to be given the option not to visit as they had been muddied out with all the rain we’d had, so - huge respect for such thoughtfulness for giving us the option to cancel (which we subsequently did) - but we’d also booked to visit for the Goth Weekend at Whitby, April 27th and 28th.
Such a superb site, being part of a complex of holiday cottages and bed and breakfast, all with the excellent quality landscaping and planting - immaculate gardens, and an opportunity to enjoy all the new growth of Spring.
Two days of bliss, giving us a much-needed break from work - not to mention the bad weather that never seemed to give up this year.
We love this part of the UK, know it very well (cycling the Cinder Trail, walking the coastal path) especially around Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. But to find this precious gem in such a perfect location. Will definitely revisit, hopefully on a regular basis.

Lovely small site. Friendly hosts. Easily accessible. Basic but adequate facilities. We have stayed here a few times and have never seen any children on the site. Probably as there is no play area. Suits us as our kids are grown up now, but bear in mind if you have young ones. We will definitely be back. Excellent value for money

This is really nice and friendly small campsite. Situated about halfway between Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby, it's in a great location to walk or cycle along the Cinder Path to the former or along the road to the Abbey to visit the latter. Also, there's a bus stop close to the campsite on the main road with services to
RHB and Whitby every half hour. Although the unisex toilet facilities are quite basic, they are more than adequate for a site this size. Hook-up points (I think 10amps) are provided and ours was very simple to connect to despite as described in one of the above reviews. Great value at £14/night. Have visited several times and will go back!

Long leas
This is a small site with friendly but not intrusive owners. Eggs, garden produce and homemade preserves are available to buy. The Owner was very particular about siting units just so, lining all the caravans up in the order they arrived. As we were in a tent, she gave us a pitch on the other side, which was lovely and sheltered but we could still see the sea and Whitby Abbey if we went behind the tent and peered over the hedge.
A previous reviewer complained about the view being obscured by the trees but I think I would be grateful for the shelter if there was a strong wind from the direction of the sea across the open fields. The lovely sea view can be seen as you walk back to your unit from the toilet block, which is attached to the owners house.
This unisex toilet block is more than adequate for a site of this size. Two basins and two toilets, no shower but plenty of hot water to basins. The two toilet cubicles can be locked individually, but if you want some privacy for a proper wash, you can lock the outside door.
The grass is short, neat and collected, not left on the field to get dragged into your unit. There are recycling facilities as well as regular waste disposal and a dog mess bin. I took my sister and her dog camping with us and she was impressed with how dog friendly this site was. There was a gate to the field that was kept closed so safe for young children too.
The only 2 things I didn't like were the busy road nearby at rush hours, (but it did quieten down at night thankfully) and the bright light shining on my tent from the care-home car-park next door. May be the site owners could ask the care-home owners to turn the light off when visiting hours finish. I would request a pitch away from this side of the site if I went back there again.
Now to my 2 favourite things: 1. There is a cycle path just over the main road, I always knew it as the Scarborough to Whitby rail trail, but it seems to be called the Cinder Track now. There is a cycle hire place here too. We didn't have bikes with us so we walked on the track to Robin Hoods Bay one day and Whitby the next, which brings me to favourite thing no. 2: the regular bus service, the stop is a short walk away, so we didn't have to walk back after our long days out. Had a great few days here and if was a lot cheaper (for a tent on non-EHU) than a lot of the other nearby sites we enquired at.

Site well placed for Whitby and end of Coast to Coast walk, within walking distance of Whitby Abbey, & on bus route to Robin Hoods Bay. Well priced for minimal facilities but with hook up. The one hard standing is in the best position and the flattest pitch, grass pitches slightly sloping. Good views from site.

Stayed here as we are Camping & Caravanning Club members and the sites are usually very good. Firstly, I'll start with the name of this site: the owner has deemed to call it 'The View', which promises exactly that. However the owner has deemed it fit to obscure said view with mature trees. The logic of which no one on the site could understand.
Apparently the owner was away and his friend was in control so no one was around when we arrived on site, we had to do everything via telephone. The facilities were poor; on arrival we had to sort out our own electricity cabling as the hook ups weren't compatible with standard cables (adaptors were supplied but there was no one on site to advise. Thank goodness for other campers!).
The toilets were 'unisex' but as us ladies know, there is no such thing! It is a man's toilet which women are expected to use; there was no privacy at all and hardly room to do your ablutions at the tiny handbasins either.
Another thing; the grass was extremely long and hadn't been cut for many weeks.
All in all, terrible value at £15 per night. One of the worst sites we've stayed on in 25 years. I do hope the owner can work with this review and make improvements.
