This huge site is difficult to access from the main road and badly signed until almost there. It's a tortuous route round the harbour, found only with help from the SatNav. On arrival we wished we had not bothered! Seriously overpriced at well over 30 Euros, the site was noisy and crowded. The lone young man on Reception had a long queue checking in and did nothing to speed the process up. ID was required for every single camper, most of whom had to return to their vehicles to fetch it. When I objected to leaving a passport at Reception, rather than the camping cards I offered, payment in advance was demanded and using a bank card took forever.

There was loud noise (can't call it music) from the adjacent hotel bar, long into the night. We left the next morning, just glad to get away. No idea why it is called Solitudo as there was no peace.

Nothing special about the facilities. The free WiFi worked and that was the only positive feature. Wasn't told about the pool at the hotel.

The site is cashing in on being the nearest to Dubrovnik, which is a bus ride away.

We were a party of four adults sharing one large tent, arriving by car. We stayed for 3 nights. As the previous reviewer stated this is the only campsite in town. We bought our bus tickets for the Old Town in reception and got a nice discount. Couldn't buy return tickets in there though. The second and third nights we walked into town, about 45-50 minutes leisurely walk, stopping for the odd beer on the way. Stunning scenery as you walk along the elevated road by the sea into town, including some lovely buildings which display blast damage going back to the siege of Dubrovnik in the early 90s. The beach was lovely, although stony like most in Croatia. The pitch wasn't bad but was a bit of an odd shape - section A where most unannounced arrivals seem to get put is a bit disorganised but by no means unpleasant. Loos and showers were very good, reception had free wifi but for some reason I couldn't access it. We didn't use the swimming pool or the 'on-site' restaurant which is actually just outside the site on the road. The biggest issue for us was the price - around £46 per night for our party. That would have been a lot in Euros but pounds??? Overall Dubrovnik did seem more pricey than most other parts of the country we've visited. We would return if visiting again as it's the only option this near to the old part of town.

The best thing about this site is its location. It's the only campsite in Dubrovnik itself, on a pleasant wooded promontory, and although it's not within walking distance of the Old Town you can get a bus just outside the campsite. There's a very pleasant shingle beach, Copacobana, about 7 minutes walk away, with beautiful clear water, pedalos, sunbeds and a couple of beach bars. Campers can also use the facilities of a nearby hotel complex, including swimming pool, but as we didn't use them we can't comment. The campsite is only a few minutes' drive from the ferry port.

The site is of medium size and has four separate areas, A, B, C and D. As Camping Cheque users, we were limited to area A, which wasn't very good, to be honest. The pitches were of all sizes and shapes but were very rough. The ground was not only uneven but was actually rocky in places, was rather muddy and some pitches had a lot of awkward shrubs or trees. Another problem was that EHU's were few and far between. However, we did manage to find a relatively level pitch within reach of an EHU. Area B had premium pitches which cost more but were of better quality.

There are two toilet blocks, fairly smart and clean, but during our stay there was a problem with the boiler which meant that on some days there was no hot water. However there is loo paper, soap and hand towels. The washing-up sinks are outside but under cover, and there are washing machines and dryers. There is a good-sized supermarket, a restaurant, and free wifi throughout.

Of the six campsites we stayed in during our time in Croatia this probably had the poorest facilities, but we would use it again because of its location.
