What a little gem of a cl site! Found purely by accident as I spotted a motorhome across the fields as I was driving along the main coast road, searching for a local site to try out our new caravan and I'm so glad I did! Large, spacious, hard standing plots with plenty of space at the side for sitting out, listening to the gentle small waterfall behind us. Was a lovely area to sit out and watch the wildlife, beautiful dragonfly's! (or in my case my yoga stretches lol).
Owners very friendly and helpful and didn't mind us coming in my hubby's work can (in fact they allocated us a longer pitch to fit the van on, which was definitely the best pic with beautiful views across open fields). Nice setting, picturesque with the old mill there. Lots of beautiful trees, flower tubs.
One toilet to use, no showers but that's ok as had our own. Water taps, waste and bins all close to the pitches so not having to walk a long way for them but tucked away so not on view which is nice. It did look like there might be a little cafe or it could've been the reception area for people fishing but due to it still being various covid restrictions we didn't explore further, apart from just having a walk in the grounds.
No shop in the village but only 5/10 drive to Manby crossroads where there's a local co op. (Also a fab Italian at Manby, doesn't look much from the outside but food is lovely).
The Royal Oak or Splash as locally known, Little Cawthorpe is worth a visit. Lovely village with a ford to drive through to get to the pub, nice meals, outside sitting and pretty garden. Little play area for the kiddies but they'll also love the river for paddling! Make sure you look for the gorilla in the garden as you walk over the footpath bridge. Also along the footpath is the most gorgeous cottage, a traditional Colonial Cottage that has been lovingly restored.
Not far from an excellent Woodthorpe garden centre with restaurant, outdoor play area, maze. Not to mention a massive selection of garden stuff. Definitely worth a visit and magical at Christmas!
Not far from the coast with beautiful beaches (Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe) or the pretty Georgian market town of Louth, which is known as the Capital of the Wolds, that has various shops, restaurants, markets, definitely worth a visit. Nice church where you can climb the steeple and see for miles (check current situation as not sure with covid restrictions etc). Hubbards Hills and Westgate Fields are definitely worth a visit, beautiful area on the West of the town. There's 2 hours free parking on Bridge Street but only a few spaces.
Would recommend the bigger car park behind the co op as good value, plus it's nice to see the ducks on the river there as you cross over the little pedestrian bridge. For food shopping there's a few independent grocers, butchers, cheese shop. Venture around the back streets and you'll find more! Aldi, Morrison's, Co op, Herons are the supermarkets. Lots of restaurants and tea shops, my favourite being The Green Cottage, vegetarian that does beautiful cream teas, vintage tea sets etc. Another gem! (tucked down the lane in between Herons and Superdrug).
Market days are Weds, Fri and Sat with busier farmers markets being held once a month. Probably a 20 drive to Cadwell Park, so if you're an enthusiast that's an option for a day out too.
Would be a nice base any time of year as lovely beaches and miles of footpaths over the Wolds in the spring and summer. In the winter you have the seals at Donna Book (approx 20 mins away), Christmas market at Louth (15 mins), Woodhall Spa and also Lincoln, both approx 40/45 mins away. Sand racing on Mablethorpe beach in the winter too.
We actually only live 20 mins away but was so lovely to find somewhere so peaceful, beautiful setting to walk around etc.
Excellent value for money, I'm sure it was only about £12 a night including hook up (might've been less).
Highly recommended!

Excellent stay in a very quiet location. Warm welcome onto this working fish farm. Access very easy and we had the choice of the pitches as it was very early in the season. All pitches hard standing with EHU, water by the entrance to the tourer area. Drain, waste, and bins around the back of the barn in the location of the pitches. Single toilet in the main farm building and no showers. Trout fishing is amongst the best, five lakes and a river, lakes stocked from the on site farm. We have a dog and the walks around the lake or in the fields were very pleasant and convenient. Very quiet location, no noise at all. Note that there is a lot of open deep water on this site.
No hesitation in recommending this site for a quiet break and excellent fishing.

My husband and I stayed on the CL in our motorhome over the early May bank holiday. Our camping pitch was hard standing with a large grass area to pitch an awning or tent as well as sit outside and enjoy the weather and the views. The camping pitches are set back away from the fishing area which avoids day visitors / fishermen accessing the area. Access to the site was also easy as the road wasn't narrow. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and met us as we arrived. My husband also enjoyed some very successful fishing. Not being a fisherman myself I walked around the village on Saturday and found that a regular bus service runs from a nearby stop to both Louth and Mablethorpe from Monday to Saturday (except bank holidays). The site is also only 6 miles from the sandy beaches at Mablethorpe (with Louth 8 miles away and Skegness not too far either) so it is an excellent base. We enjoyed a day at Mablethorpe on Sunday. We were able to park the motorhome without hassle at Becks carpark across from the promenade and was also pleased to find that although part of the beach is dog free there is also a large area that is dog friendly. Thank you for an excellent weekend!
