Tips for other travellers
Snuggled into the countryside with hedges all round. No mod cons apart from a toilet but you're camping, what more do you need. Close to beaches, Theddlethorpe great for dog running. Fishing venues around the area and the canal right outside. If you want to travel a bit, Quaint Market Towns, bigger towns, seaside towns and Louth is beautiful.

Great site, very welcoming owner, toilet a little basic but adequate and clean, will definitely go there again. Nice quiet location next to canal, lots of dog walks, we could have even bought some plants from the small on site garden centre.

We have just returned from a delightful 3 night stay at Austen Fen CL. The booking process was very easy and straightforward over the phone and the cost of staying on this site is very good value for money. I would also like to mention you get excellent television reception on this site. On arrival we were greeted by Sandra the owner, we received a lovely warm welcome and we were shown around the site.
The site has fresh water, Chemical toilet disposal point and recycling facilities available. The pitches are numbered and are all on a well kept grassy area with electric available also available was outside seating next to the pond which was nice to sit out on, on an evening. There are plenty of places to walk your dog right on the doorstep too which is great.
Sandra the owner was very knowledgeable on the local and surrounding areas, the villages of Marshchapel and North Somercoates are nearby and have a shop and a few pubs. The site is an ideal location for the peace and quiet of the countryside but within 20-30 miles you can be at the seaside towns of Cleethorpes, Mablethorpe, Skegness or Ingoldmells or if the seaside isn't for you the lovely market town of Louth is only a short drive away.
Louth holds markets every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and is well known for its specialist grocers and butchers. If you are visiting Austen Fen in the later months of the year the Donna nook seal sanctuary is only a few miles away and is must see, the seals come in land to have their pups and it's a lovely sight to see.
Overall Austen Fen is a lovely site and well worth the visit with plenty to do in the surrounding areas it is the ideal base can't recommend this site enough, a top CL where they have holiday cottages to rent.
We are already looking forward to our next visit.
