 Located on the banks of the River Dourdou; Conques is approximately 400 metres away up a steep, paved path. Conques is very picturesque and was busy with tourists when we visited. We explored the Abbey and village which has restaurants, bars and has a small selection of 'village' food shops. Nice walk up to a view point across the valley.
When we stayed at the end of August the campsite was quiet, although sandwiched between river and road; we found the river noiser than the road as we were camped right beside it.
Pitches a mixture of shade and sun; we found, because it is in a river valley that we lost the sun relatively early in the evening. The size of pitches were adequate for our party of three 4/5 person tents with car parking on pitch. All pitches had electricity.
When we were there there was a mixture of tents, motor homes with a few caravans. The site also rents out mobile homes. There were mainly French visitors.
There is a small shop on site, which is rather expensive; we ordered bread and pain au chocolat every day. On the last night we had a meal at the on site restaurant which was generally enjoyed by all. Nearest supermarkets about 20km away. Also found there was a lack of petrol station once you get off the motorway; the nearest one we found was in Figerac. Worth making sure you are not low on petrol (as we were) when making your way to the site.
Small playground for children, table tennis and small pool, nice for a dip at the end of a hot day.
Only negative was lack of English toilets. There was an older and newer block of toilets/washing facilities with only 2 English toilets available when we were there. There was a sign for a disablet toilet which we didn't use. No soap in the toilet/shower facilities. There are 4 showers with handbasins in the more modern block.
Really beautiful setting, very peaceful, friendly staff. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it, with the above provisos.
