This review is a bit late but I feel I must leave one!
We were due to travel back to Calais but I had miscalculated the distance, so we searched for a stop over via the ukcampsite website.
We found a site run by Colin and Mary, and thought they sound English!
My wife phoned and asked if they had availability, to which the reply was yes, what a lifesaver!
We were due to arrive on the Thursday and managed to get a bit lost (bloody satnav). We phoned the site and were given the correct directions with Colin saying if we had any more problems he would come and find us.
We arrived to be greeted by a great couple of people in Colin and Mary. We were offered all the cherries we wanted if we picked them.
That evening we were invited to enjoy a drink and a chat.
We would fully recommend the site as either a stopover or a longer stay.
Hopefully we will be seeing our hosts again!

Having decided to break our 500 mile journey to the South, we chose La croix et la cerf which was about 250 mile from Calais.
We spent 6 nights there, the owners Colin and Mary were very friendly and helpful, it is an ideal site for relaxation and quietness one morning not waking until 9. 45am. Plenty to see around the area.
You have use of their shower and toilet, and could purchase fresh produce from their garden. We did a lot of cycling around the country lanes which were never busy.
There are supermarkets about 5/6 mile away, we also had a lovely day at Le Mont st Michel which again was about 60miles.
We wouldn't hesitate in returning and would definitely recommend this site.
Toilet waste was emptied at the local disposal point a few minutes away in the village of Javron les chappelles.

La Croix et le Cerf - La Hersonniere:
A lovely new CL style site situated in a rural area yet only a short drive to supermarkets and towns.
6 hook ups and space for tents - use of excellent shower/bathroom at entrance to owner's home. BBQ area.
Dogs allowed on leads on site - lots of super walks a short distance away.
Bikers welcome, touring caravan and MVs (emptying point in nearby by towns).
Friendly and very helpful owners.
Very suitable for a night halt - but equally suitable for a two week holiday!
Lovely places to visit nearby, historical and pretty, lakes and Chateaux. Highly recommend.
NB The spelling of the address on our satnav was as I have written above - on the road sign it has a c with a cidilla and not an s - so worth giving both a try in order to locate it.

La Croix et La Cerf (the Cross and the Stag) is a 2 acre CL in quiet lush countryside. You are assured of a friendly welcome by Mary and Colin. Eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables are available in season from their garden. Electricity and water, shower and toilet are available for no extra charge. 15 euros all season is the very reasonable charge. - The bargain of the year! We look forward to our next visit. Shirley and Peter

We can highly recommend this site for storing your caravan or camper van and a short stay should you wish to come back to travel further afield and enjoy some more of France. To get there it is 2. 5 hours from Le Harve coming across from Portsmouth or if you are coming from Dover to Calais it is around 3. 5 to 4 hours travel.
The site is very quiet and tranquil you are in easy reach of Mayenne and Alencon. If you are a Racing fanatic you are about an hour away from Le Mans, you are also about 3 hours from Britteny.
The site itself has electric hook up; there is also use of a shower and toilet facilities.
