We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Ria Formosa Campsite.
The smaller pitches are small, but so reasonably priced when taken under the Winter discount, that many people who were staying booked 2 and had plenty of space.
We took a large pitch which had space for our small 2 berth, with room for an awning on the side and at the back to sit in the sun.
The campsite is well-organised, with sparkling clean toilets, hot water in the showers, and good amenities for laundry.
There is a good restaurant on the campsite, which offers a very reasonably priced menu do dia with a drink and coffee included, and there are a number of good eateries in nearby Cabanas, some of which overlook the lagoon of the Ria Formosa.
There is plenty to do in the area, including excellent off-road bike paths, and the surrounding towns and villages of the Eastern Algarve can be easily accessed by bike or train from a station just across the road from the camping.
We will be very sad to leave.

We came to this site for the first month through the Caravan and motorhome club, we then stayed another month on the sites offer after begging to the pitch manager, who rules it, he drives around in his golf buggy, we asked to stay longer but no availability, BUTplenty of pitches ??no one seems to know what is going on re bookings. We tried to book through the Caravan club for 2019 but that's not possible either for this January or November,
Washrooms are adequate, not always hot water, bit squashy in cubicles, and can be cold if fellow campers leave door open, particularly
in evening.
Washing machines are expensive and sometimes there's a queue,
Restaurant closed all of January.
Not all the pitches are in the sun, so in the winter it can be cold in the sun?

Stayed on this site for 5 weeks, excellent site within easy access of train station, 20mins walk to beach and lovely Cabanas. Site is well kept, toilets are cleaned twice a day, restaurant on site is great value for money, pool looks lovely although we didn’t use it, reception staff are very helpful, shop on site is good and not too expensive, only negative is the English man who hangs around the shop every morning making inappropriate comments to all the customers, I think he lives on the site. All in all a great site to spend the winter months.

Quite a large site but the pitches are quite small but double pitches are available for small extra cost. We paid 15€ pn in October for a single. Most pitches have little shade. Reception was very friendly and spoke good English. Site has barrier entrance, supermarket, restaurant, swimming pool etc. Toilets/ showers were very clean and good but own paper required. Short walk to the town/harbour with bars and restaurants, supermarket and train station. Train fares for over 65 are half price with evidence of age (3. 65€ return to Faro for us oldies).

Other reviews have mentioned the standard pitch sizes. We had no problem with our 7. 5m unit & awning. However we stayed out of season and if the campsite is full I can imagine it being claustrophobic. The campsite is very practically laid out with excellent and heated service blocks. The staff were friendly and helpful. As well as a small supermarket on site there are others within walking distance as well as the train station and bus stops.
The superb pool and good wifi is a bonus.

A very clean, neat and tidy site, maintained to a high standard with very friendly and helpful staff.
The pitches are all gravel, drain easily and vary in size. The facilities are excellent, spotlessly clean, lots of hot water, even piped music to entertain you whilst washing the pots.
Every member of staff goes out of their way to smile and help if possible. The young lady in the attached mini market always has a chat as she serves you. The range covers all the essentials and isn't overly expensive for a convenience store right on the doorstep.
Cabanas is a bird watchers delight, with easy access to the salt pans, coast, scrubby inland and cultivated gardens that throng with feathered creatures.
There are plenty of good value places to eat and drink along the front, it's a bit of a walk but worth the effort.
I'd highly recommend this site, it's friendly, spotlessly clean and in a good location, reasonably priced and everything is done to a very high standard

This is a 'high density' site with a grid structure of block paved roads and clearly marked pitches of varying sizes and prices on good hard standing, (gravel).
The facilities are clean and well maintained, although there was a 'blip' on a couple of days with the hot water in one of the two blocks, quickly rectified.
Playground looks good, (my boss said not to use!)
Pool nice and clean with recliners.
At the time of our visits there was a lot of empty pitches but I can imagine it would be crowded in high season and the small pitches are small!
Twenty minutes stroll to Cabanas sea front, nice promenade but no beach without a water taxi ride to Ria Formosa, (a long sand spit) at 1. 5 euro return.
The railway station is a five minute walk away and the line runs the length of the Algarve. For those of us in our second childhood, (over 65), proof of age, (passport) gives a 50% reduction on the already low fares. This is a real plus as it is much quicker by train than driving with no parking problems.
We paid 112 euro for two adults, motor home and electricity for 7 nights, we got a 10% reduction for international camping card.
Long termers get a much better rate.
We recommend this site mostly for the convenience of the train to visit other places, although its other attributes are good.

Site less than 4 years old, but does appear to have been there longer as it seems dated in style. Over 300 pitches - the pitches are fairly small and several people were paying for 2 pitches to give more space. We found ok with a campervan - but then another camper parked next to us and totally blocked all sun light. Would say spaces are more ' aire' sized. All pitches are on gravel with ehu.
Site staff are brilliant, speak good English and very happy to help on anything at all. We got great recommendations on where to eat etc from reception.
Toilets / showers are immaculate, plenty of hot water and cleaned regularly. Swimming pool and petang courts plus small children's play area on site. There is also a cafe / bar which served good meals for less than €4 and also a gym and reading room.
A 10-15 minute walk into Cabanas and well worth it - really lovely town with plenty of cafes and bars along a promenade facing a lagoon. The beach is on the other side of the lagoon and you reach by water taxi. Even in February we found most places open and plenty of life around town.
The Algarve cycle way runs towards through Cabanas, you can ride to the Spanish border going east (mainly on tracks and quiet lane) or as far as you want west, we found it about 15 miles to Olhoa and great paths through the Salt Pans.
There are numerous trips out to the Ria Formosa, worth every penny its stunning.
Overall a good campsite in a fabulous area. The pitches are small but if you choose carefully then you should be bale to find one where you get some sunshine too. We would use again for sure. We paid €14 a night for 2 adults with ehu.
