A friendly welcome from one of the owners who took over this site in May 2018. It's a beautiful site, with sandy grass pitches amongst trees and with a lot of wild flowers and giant cacti.

The washrooms were clean bur poorly lit, you'd need a torch to shower out of daylight hours. The only drinking water is from the washups.

Having said that, it really is a great place to stay, with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and cheerful helpful owners.

There's good walking directly from the site and if you just want to relax on your pitch the surroundings are perfect and the views great.

We paid €20 a night including electricity.

We were hoping to stay here for 2 weeks, but many pitches were taken, and ground very uneven and we had no motor mover so managed just a week. Basically its Dutch, they were very welcoming. Fresh water was only available at washing up sink? Only one washing machine?

There are lovely medieval paths to walk to nearby town, which was lovely.

Quite a bit to do in the area, but you need a car. I do recommend you do a shop first if no car.

This site is Dutch owned and part of the RDS campsites group which consists of 5 Dutch owned campsites through Portugal.

Pitches are well spaced and a good size, all with ehu. Plenty of water taps and there is a chem disposal, washing up area and laundry area. The toilets / showers were immaculate, plenty of hot water and good pressure.

There is a swimming pool on site and you can chose to camp either on the main site with ehu, or on quieter more remote spaces on the site without ehu. There is a covered cooking area and picnic area - both look like miniature thatched huts.

The site is fair distance from the village, I guess to drive maybe 15-20 minutes but we chose to walk over the hills and took a couple of hours there and back. Absolutely stunning walk (worth staying at the site for this alone). A cobble path all the way which may have seen a car once every few years.

The owners of the site were very friendly and helpful and they do organise walking tours for people staying on the campsite and in the villas.

This is a beautiful area away from the madding crowds and well worth exploring for a few days at least. We used this site on our journey up through Portugal, using the RDS group we found every site to be first class and would recommend without hesitation.
