My husband, our 22 month old daughter and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Kite Hill Yurts for my birthday and cannot recommend it highly enough. We had an absolutely wonderful time, everything was just perfect, a truly 5 star experience. We just couldn't ask for more.
The owners were the perfect hosts, we always had absolutely everything we needed and much more. The site and facilities were immaculately clean and presented throughout our stay and yet they make it look like no trouble at all. Huge congratulations to you, you have really created something unique and wonderful and we wish you every success going forwards.
Everything at the yurts is based on an eco-friendly, self sustainable way of life which is to be highly commended and an example to us all. We were really interested to read about your exciting on-going eco-projects and we wish you good luck with those too.
We stayed in the beautiful and brightly coloured Skylark Yurt which was perfect for our daughter who loved the colours and patterns. We had a sneaky peak at Curlew though which is equally beautiful and has an incredibly relaxing feel.
The yurts are unbelievably spacious and luxurious inside, they really feel like home away from home. The double bed is extremely comfortable, far more so than most hotel beds. The day bed and arm chairs are great additions and there's even a large chest of drawers for your clothes. The clothes rail which we used to dry our towels is a perfect example of how every little detail has been thought of. The wood burner and tea lights create a romantic and cosy haven in the evenings. Listening to the heavy rain one evening from our toasty yurt made it all the more cosy!
The decking area with a picnic bench, two big comfy wooden chairs, a barbecue and of course the most breathtaking views you could wish for, makes a perfect exterior to your home for your stay. This a great place for star gazing at a sky which rivals anything you would usually see in the UK.
Your own kitchenette shares those exquisite views and as well as being equipped with two gas hobbs and a kettle, has everything you could possibly need even including a pretty apron and oven glove set and storage containers for your food. The constant supply of drinking water provided is also much appreciated. Eating tea with our daughter with the tea lights glimmering and the sun setting over the Black Mountains in our kitchenette was a magical experience we will never forget.
Having your own compost loo cabin close by each yurt but discretely placed is another luxury which makes your stay comfortable and easy. They are nothing like normal camping toilets, they don't smell at all and the saw dust keeps them very pleasant. Dominic empties them every day and they're kept spotless. You will even find soft loo paper and hand sanitizer gel in there.
In the nearby cabin, you have your own large fridge and there is also a microwave and washing up facilities in the Map Room. Next door, the Shower Room is pure luxury with a huge and powerful hot shower, heater and hair dryer. The eco-friendly toiletries provided have a luxurious feel and are lovely to use. I looked forward to my shower every day!
We really feel like we managed to relax and chill out during our stay even with a toddler in tow, who loved the yurt and the open space to run around freely outside. She slept so well we even managed to have a lie in every morning! You really don't need to venture far from the yurts as it's so cosy inside and stunning outside that you won't want anything more for your stay. We were all really sad to leave the yurt as even after only a few days it felt like it had become our home. Back in the hubbub of our busy every day lives, we can't wait to go back to this sanctuary of tranquillity.
Thank you so much for this experience, you really have created the perfect getaway and I had a fantastic birthday weekend.
