This is a lovely site That I visit regular. This was a pre-season visit for an event on in whitby.
Pitches are well drained on a slight slope. It is well located for walking and cycling on the disused railway (Coastal railway).
20 mins to whitby, a day out to Robin Hoods Bay and bus back. Supermarkets across the road at the end of the lane.
2 Toilets and showers, could be cleaner.
There is also an animal sanctuary adjacent, this has been moved to the site entrance.
A small park for children.

Great location with a newly-surfaced walk/bike track into Whitby right next to the campsite and a Sainsburys and Aldi at the end of the approach road.
Friendly and helpful owners. Very flexible with arrangements. The pods are great value for money with plenty of space and facilities.
We were there during social distancing so only one other pod in use and we had a bathroom to ourselves.
I would definitely recommend these pods.

There seem to have been some changes since the last review.
In addition to the CS all grass with EHU pitches, there are now 9 camping pods.
We didn't feel at all cramped by that though.
Lovely views of countryside with the Abbey and the sea in the distance.
We didn't smell anything from the sewage treatment works.
There is a new looking shower block with washing up area and I think 3 combined toilet/shower rooms, maybe we arrived on a bad day but they were really grubby.
You can choose to pay £12 for pitch with EHU or £15 if you also want to use the shower and toilet facilities so we chose to use our own and only paid £12 per night.
I didn't go into the shower block again, so don't know if they improved.
Location excellent as nearby Sainsbury's and only about a mile from Whitby or half a mile to the park and ride.

Visited for 9 days during Whitby folk festival. Site is large and has basic facilities. (Drinking water, CDP, rubbish skips and electric hookups. There is also a children's play area. Easy to find straight off the main Whitby to Scarborough road. Access down a shared driveway which puts the site far enough from the road not to be a problem. Site is rather exposed but has sea views and within easy walking distance of 2 pubs, a Sainsburys superstore and Homebase. There is a bus stop at the top of the drive for the Middlesborough to Scarborough service (Arriva X93). Owners friendly and helpful, only minor downside is a nearby sewage farm. This is not a problem unless the wind is in the wrong direction and even then not that bad. £12 pounds a night including electrics is good for the area in peak season.
